Interesting to read and written well
I liked the following words.
"It was time. In fact, it was past time. Gary decided to get clean. The other day he saw a sign at the local shelter about a program. He could do it. No doubt, it would be hard. He hated pain and needles, but he hated disappointing his mother even more."
Great writing.

Back, (i)n the beginning,

I am in awe of your courage and raw conviction sharing this story. The write read fluidly with steady place and powerful message. Yes, sometimes the hardest decision, is the right decision. Your entry will surely fare well. The fact he found the courage to make the call is literally the first step in the absolute best direction. However, not wanting to disappoint his mother, that was an awesome pearl of wisdom :)

I am sorry you're struggling with this. My step twins are in the throws of it now. They're only 15 and leaving so much carnage in their wake. Today was horrible. Sigh. Your glimpse into this world, priceless and so very timely/relatable.

Thanks for sharing your story about the diner. I thoroughly appreciate your penning.

    Hi, Janelle,

Thank you so much for the Exceptional review. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this in fifteen-year-olds. Teenagers are difficult enough - that is the hard part though - Gregory was a dream as a teenager. And then, he turned 25, and things have gone downhill since. He just turned 32 in September, and I dreamed of so many things for him.

But, it is never too late, and I have hope--always,

Hi Patty, this is a wonderful piece written about a person who is addicted and lost to the world as we know it. It must have been hard to write. All the best. Ulla:)))

I can't imagine anything more painful than having a child in crisis. So many mothers suffer this heartbreak. I think a time comes when the user knows he/she must do something different. This is a very poignant story, Patty. I will pray for your son's recovery and return to you.

I know this has to be hard to write, because it was hard to read. I've said before you describe homeless life as if you'd lived it. I pray your son sees the light and you two can be reunited.

Hope and prayers are all we can do for an addicted person. Prayers do work miracles, but it's in God's time, not ours.

Thinking about his Mom wasn't going to get him anywhere, so he banished those thoughts. (mom needs a lower case 'm' because of the 'his')

Well done, Patty. Less of the report style here and very much pronouns in play in the correct places without extra stresses to highlight a name. Bravo.

The narrative, relaxed as real. Nicely through the gears...ending with a want for more.
Well done.
Good luck with this.
Best wishes.
RG

Oh Patty! My heart missed a beat for a happy ending. I knew from the start it was about your . My hopes turned into sympathy at the end, of course. It's said that we're only vehicles to bring children into this world, but the pain of birth is minimal compared to the suffering and continuing pain of a situation like yours. Thanks for having the courage to share,
Hugs, Trisha

Wow, this shows the horrors and the hardships of being addicted to drugs. It's amazing how many who have trouble with drugs sincerely wish to get off them and lead a drug-free life. Unfortunately not many of them trod that thorny road successfully.

Excellent write.

Then, he used (it) to calm the intense feelings he experienced along with the anxiety
