A very well-written poem. We are mislead by friends of how good this little pill will make you feel. Before you know you are addicted and need more and more to get the good feeling.

I like that you put a twist at the end of your poem, addressing "Addiction" as the "Love that Kills" (didn't see that coming) . . . but I am not clear on whether the narrator is addicted or the narrator's beloved is the one who's addicted!?!?!! . . . I love this part: "bruises to my soul becoming harder to hide" becuz it's reminiscent of battered woman syndrome. All in all, your message is stated in original terms, which I love to see, rather than a cliché approach.

I don't understand this line: "so brown as to make the color die of envy" . . . what do you think of this . . . "so brown as to make green die of envy" . . . ??? (Just an idea).

I am delighted by your review, I will read again and look at other reviews should I get them and see if others share your idea. I thought a lot on this line as you can imagine. Changed it several times, so I am not adverse to changing it again :)

    Thank you so much barleygirl,

    Always,
    Missy

Wow, Missy.
This is pretty powerful poetry.
I can only hope that the scenes expressed as having unfolded here in the narrative of your poignant, melancholy musing is merely speculative, and not based upon current events.
Bravo, dear poet...

Hello, my dashing good friend. I am delighted to see your name as first review. It is laced with reality but not as lover. Addiction, has many faces. Lover is just one.

Thank you so much for being steadfast in my review list.
