What a beautiful story to create from a challenge.

Needless to say, your rhyme and meter were perfect.

Her sitting there quietly is probably what saved her from the Indians. And there was her true love coming for her. Oh, wow!

I know this has nothing to do with a review, but I have to share this with you. Several years ago, one of my sons and I were at an animal sanctuary. The lady running it would go into the compound with the lions and tigers and walk around with them. Well, a young tiger, probably about a year old, slipped through the gate and was running free. I stood perfectly still, but my son took off running. HAHA. I told him later, "You know who the tiger would have run after. You, because to took off running." He said, "I don't care. I was heading for the nearest tree, and he'd have had to catch me in my butt." 8-)

LOL! You were very brave, but you did the best thing, I think! I guess my lady did the right thing too, lol. Thank you, dear Yvonne, for the lovely review, and goodness me, those 6 stars are very shiny! I have just posted my story. Now I'm going to bed. Night night, my friend! xxx Sandra

What a beautiful story of love in the old west. She tells the story to her grandchildren about how their grandfather saved her from the Indians from
his seat mounted on a Union Cavalry horse. You get the feeling this is a story told
of a person who died in the interim

Keep writing

A very well written picture this, challenge poem. I think you did well with poem meeting the challenge. The words flowed very easily line to line and tell the story of a very brave woman for that time riding the train across the country.

Hello sandramitchell, Your poem is filled with adventure and pulls the reader quickly along to the very end. I especially liked:

I'd heard the whistle loud and clear, I'd heard some shooting too,
and looking out the window I did not know what to do.
I saw so many Indians, with paint on every face,
and though the train was going fast, their horses had kept pace.

(Vivid imagery and I could feel the fear and anxiety within.)

Silky rhyming throughout. A pleasure to read ... A woman who knows what she wants and journeys to get her man, and her man becomes the "white night." Very nice. An Old fashioned love story is exactly what I needed to read today -- light and airy. Great story in a poem.

Your poem made me smile. Good luck with the picture challenge. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Aww, thank you so much, Ben. How did you guess my take was on a John Wayne movie? LOL. What I liked most about his films, there was no bad language in them. Just shows how unnecessary it is. I'm sending you a big hug my dear friend for the lovely 6 stars. Bless your heart! :) Sandy. xxx

Thank you so much, my sweet friend, for the lovely review. I wrote this one straight away, 2 weeks ago, so I wasn't late this time. Then I concentrated on my story, I'll be posting it in a minute. :)

I think you are psychic, Linda! Ian had his first eye done today, it's sore, he told me. He has the next one done in two weeks. His cancer has stabled, my friend. But we had some more bad news yesterday, so we are all feeling a bit fragile. My daughter-in-law had breast cancer 5 years ago, and has been cleared all this time, but yesterday she was given the news that it's back. She's only 35. They decided after the first time not to have children even though she had some of her eggs frozen, now it's back again. It is such a vile illness, Linda, all the nice people get it. We will just keep the prayers going, for Sarah and Ian and for all those sufferers in the world. There is so many of them. It's so upsetting. Linda, you have been a constant source of encouragement and love, and I can't thank you enough. God bless and keep you safe, my dear friend. xxx Sandra.
