A wonderful poem of courage and love. I really loved the imagery of the old west and the journeys women took to be with those they loved. And thank you for using the word Indians. I see nothing wrong with it. It didn't come from that old story of Columbus thinking he was in India (it was called Hindustan at the time). Great work!

well, you did picture it well. good tension in the action and in her thoughts.
And of course, great ending. a combination hard to beat! good job.
I love to write in rhyme also. Keeps the mind cranking away. Congrats on your win.

I enjoyed the story in rhme from beginning to end. It is a love song with a happy ending, and very believable. The characterization in the fourth verse is particularly adept. It does justice to the artwork. Great. Valmay

How imaginative!
Train rides back in time, Indians and shootouts, true love...can it get any better then this?
A story in rhyme, this has been a pleasure indeed!

I have tried to read as many of these as I could. But yours is
clearly the best. They were all very well done. This one just
stands above all the others. A beautiful story/poem that
flows so smoothly. The rhyme is not forced and the pace
is consistent. -bill

Hey Sandra
Cool Poem. An exciting journey into life for the young girl, Though I'm sure there was an easier way to have consummated their romance. But it would made for a boring poem...
Great piece.

Comment from Mary Wakeford
A wonderful story within a poem. I just read one with a war theme and the injured father coming home on the train, and then this popped up. Both so very different, but so very engaging. You express through your character the adventure that soon turned to fear with such description that the reader had no choice but to feel the fear inside those train cars. Definitely a frightening time in history, but I can see it from both sides. Look what was done to the natives. Well done, Sandra.

I have always been on the natives side, Mary, and cringed when sweet Ben reviewed it. He was brilliant though. But this poem popped into my head and I had to go with it. I'm really pleased you liked it, next time I'll tell the Indian lady's side. :) Thank you so much for this lovely review, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

A really well written poem you've penned here. Some of the stanzas have perfect rhythm. Others could use a bit more cutting of words or some changing of syllables for a better flow, but I am thoroughly jealous of how everyone keeps coming up with good works. Nice job!
