What a wonderful story! I'm so glad to hear your daughter was driving and not you. We older folks don't have the control younger ones do... or the guts. :)

Thank you, Phyllis. Me too on the driving at that moment...I drove the leg at night with less traffic, but lots of deer :) Thankfully they all stayed off the roadway. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the read, and I very much appreciate your review. Thank you so much! Have a great week!

Hi Mary,

A mixture of sweetness, fun, hair-raising moments, and Thank the Lord We're Still Alive gratitude!! All of the aforementioned rolled into one very entertaining story that has the reader laughing, aghast and giving a sigh of relief.

Question -- what is a Kong? is it a dog toy?

Some standouts for this reader are:

- "Where's the Pork" ... ha!
- "This is it. This is it." ... and then ... "This is not it". Made me smile
- "Lady Bird was lovin' the extra excitement and thought we were happenin' peeps" ... great imagery created for me here ... I could just picture his dog happy as a clam bouncing all over the place amidst all of the commotion.
- I thought it ironic that you almost had an accident going 70 in "Gallup" (even though the spelling isn't 'gallop'.

Two small typos:
- "A road trip, a rescue dog, and a perhaps a miracle" ... one too many a's
- "There was a quite a bit of shaking" ... one too many a's

A heart warming, well written story that I enjoyed, and am glad that it had a happy outcome for all concerned.

Connie

PS: My best regards to Brunhilda. Tell her I miss her.

Hi Connie, thank you for another detailed and wonderful review. I so appreciate the catch's...I seem to miss them on every posting and it's starting to drive me cra-cra...Brunhilda thinks I suck at editing and wonders how I miss so many obvious mistakes :) A Kong is a big thick rubber dog toy, you can stick a treat up inside and they have to work it to get the prize. It keeps them from getting bored. It was suggested I get one when the 110 lb mastiff I rescued tried to eat our golden doodle a few times. I bought all three dogs Kongs, though it didn't help with the attacks. I had to eventually muzzle her to keep my other female safe. Princess was a wonderful dog, just a girl to girl thing that was a problem.

Thank you again for the wonderful and detailed review, as always, I appreciate you so much! Have a wonderful week :)

Thanks for the 'Kong' explanation. :)

Re catching typos ... I often seem to miss them on my own work too. I guess we are just too close to our writing, sometimes having written the same thing several times over. It's much easier to spot them when reading a fresh piece of work it seems.

Wishing you a great week as well!

My goodness this is well told. This should be in a magazine somewhere.
Your telling of the near impact with the truck is both humorous and breathtaking. I was simply enthralled with the tale of Lady Bird

This is one of the greatest things you've written. I went from laughing to tensing up, and back to laughing. What a trip. Sounds like one I had years ago. Tell you later.

I hope you don't think I'm nit-picking, but I found a few little things that need attention. I am going to give you a six anyway, because when they corrections are made, you will deserve it. Love the photos.

My daughter enter[ed] the drive-through

It was obvious[,] given her exuberance

not screaming like a banchie [banshee]

I loved your nitpicking as much as I loved your assignment of a SIX, Yvonne!!! Thank you, I had re-read this thing so many times, I was oblivious to the errors you noted, so a HUGE thank you, Yvonne. I loved your reaction, because I was sooooo thinking this wasn't one of my better writes :) As always, I so appreciate you and your continued interest in my ramblings :) Have a wonderful week ahead, and all the corrections have been made :) Merci!
