I dug into your portfolio and found this poem I had missed. I enjoyed your free verse from last summer, and I hope it did well in the contest. I felt myself drifting with you among the colorful kites. You are a wonderful poet, and here's to your "zany dreams" along with the "wilful wind" and "plump leading cloud"--terrific descriptions! Big cheers- Joan

Amada, I have a friend who is absolutely besotted by kites. With kids and grandkids, they enjoy this hobby together. You have so vividly described the pleasure of seeing those kites flying high. Thanks for sharing and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

Hi Marijke, oh yes, they are marvelous to see those kites take flight, and the shapes keep on getting more creative all the time.

This free verse works well as a poem about writing and the dream of constant freedom and inspiration. I like how you interweave the meaning of the colors.

I like the verse about the different colors of the kites and what they mean. There is a feel of freedom in your words, like the flying of the kites. Excellent free verse form that takes the reader to another place.

It sounds like fun to fly like the kites. I like the metaphors of writing poetry up there in the sky.
Very good free verse - good luck in the contest.

This is very original and extremely entertaining whimsy, amada.
Top imagery.
With the three kites' different personalities, I'm sure you'd fill your 'notebook' in no time.
Excellent.
Cheers, Ray xx

This was a delightful and whimsical free verse poem that juxtaposed colorful kites with a poet's muse to create an airborne interlude of dreams. Loved the alliterations that you sprinkled in: willful wind, smileless sky, bare borrowed, sun shine. I thought the triple repeat of the word "toward" in the first stanza was very powerful phraseology. That third stanza was truely lovely, and my favorite. Nicely done. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for the great review! I was unsure about the repetition "toward." I don't take chances, but now I did! Going for it...
