What a terrific poem. Wally is smart. Old people have wonderful stories to tell, and they want to talk about the days of their youth. It's good for kids and for the seniors. Kids learn and seniors get the attention they lack.

Hi Yvonne, this is a nice addition to your Wally themed poems. I'm sure they would love Wally at the nursing home. He's a great helper too!

Oh this is simply delicious, da. Your metre and rhymes written to perfection and you captured Wally's day at the old folk's home with delightful precision. The artwork is incredible too.

Very, very cool. :))

Thank you so much. I think this is the first Wally you've read.

I'm glad you think so well of my poem. Wally's almost a member of the family. LOL. 8-)

I've been working on the Terza Rima poem. I have a practice one. Do I post as usual, or on the "Challenges" page?

There are chapters before this one. It's a book. Click on the "show chapters." I'd be honored if you'd read them. (Is that a solicitation for reviews? Don't mean it to be, truly. You can read them without reviewing. Please do.)

Thank you. And thank you for that galaxy of stars! I think of you when I'm writing Wally because I know you like him so much.

You're probably my biggest fan. Love, Yvonne

    Hi Yvonne,

They're always fun to read. I just posted a poem called "Autumn Arrives" if you'd like to read it.

This is a very clever and creative poem with great rhyming that's unforced. The syllable count is really consistent throughout which allows the poem to flow effortlessly. Really nice job, keep up the good work.

Wally seems like a very nice little weasel. I liked your cute little child's poem about helping the old folks. Reading to them and helping them out. Very well done and cute.

Such a precious kids' story. If I had young one again, I'd want the whole series--(I know, I know, there isn't one--laugh). Also, it says artwork by Wally Weasel--now, does THAT mean you? Well, it's all so charming and after listening to all the rumbles of war on youtube for the last two hours, it was a needed respite. I wonder if parents read to their kids anymore, Yvonne. I just assumed they did, but nowadays with all the electronic things, I don't know. I did see a Netflix movie recently where the 2 yr. old was playing a game on his phone (looked like) while he was eating his breakfast. But also there are 3 yr. olds reading their own books. So much I just don't know any more. Again, great little poem. Laugh. Marcia

Thank you so much. I will SOMEDAY get my stuff together and get Wally in a real book. I'll let you know.

I can't claim Wally's artwork as my own (wink). He's temperamental about his art.

Some people here on FS say they read these stories to their children or grandchildren. I hope they enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

I'm amazed at how young children are when they start using all this technology. I think a little goes a long way. They miss so much with their heads stuck to an electronic thingy. 8-)

I really love your little Wally who comes from somewhere within your heart and mind. I love this altruistic side of him too, and can see it taking flight in many more writings. Great presentation with the green background, which I find present in a lot of nursing homes...I suppose it is a soothing color.

I love this poem. As a teacher of at-risk students, I have supervised juveniles volunteering in the community, and a trip to the nursing home with them was always a positive experience. My one constructive criticism would be this line: "Wally's home, and in his little lime green studio," which is the only awkward line in the poem, awkward especially as the next line also begins with "and." Thank you for sharing.
