I will never forget either, my friend, and the utter helplessness, the horror is something I will carry to my grave. I think that's something we all feel - horror that such acts could be carried out, but helplessness too, that we are unable to do a thing about it. I guess if I was still twenty-something, I would have looked to join those brave men and women who serve, fighting terrorism. As it is, we have little else but our ability to express rage against such barbaric acts, and so it becomes a duty we are compelled to perform. We can never let others forget either. I don't know if the pen truly is mightier than the sword, but it must never still, and maybe even INSTILL the need in others to cry out against inhumanity.

Thank you, Dawn, for your RR&R and words of support. A horrible anniversary that casts a spell of morose and fear, far and wide.

This is a very nice tribute to honor and remember what happened
September 11th, 200I.
I agree, it would be nice to forget, but we should never forget, nor should we let our children forget.
We can Remember, Honor and Defend; but I have to wonder, how do we Protect? The entire world is living in fear every day.
Thank you for posting on this date we should never forget..

Thank you for your RR&R, kind words of support for our country, and for the six. The world will live in fear, I suspect, for a very long time as we will never be able to return to an age of innocence and trust. So many crazy leaders and all doing horrible acts in the name of their God.

Hi Mary Wakeford,

Thank you for helping to keep alive the remembrance of those who have died so valiantly at the hands of the barbarian terrorists. Their agenda continues to be the conversion of the entire world to Islam by bloody force. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see the truth. Political correctness is one of their tools of deception, and I for one am not buying into it. The Muslim refugees who are invading our country and Europe are creating a social and an economic disaster. We need to destroy Isis and send them all back home.

Thank you so very much for your RR&R, JMRoland, and the beautiful SIX stars. I very much appreciate your words and spirit of nation. I had to turn the television off...too much sadness to relive.

Sometimes you have to get away, or it will drag you down. I knew a girl in school who ended up married and living in NY at the time of 9/11. She penned a remarkable, first-hand story of the tragedy-her part in the aftermath had to do with getting food and water to the rescuers, and stuff like that. Amazing, awful experience.

Nice tribute on a day which we must remember. I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment of this piece. We must remember and hope history does not repeat.

Take care,
Russell

Thank you very much, Russell. I'm about to turn the news off as for whatever reason, it seems fifteen years later and after our nation came together for perhaps the first time in a very long time, we are now more separated by hatred, bigotry and whatever else you want to throw in, and with two characters competing for the high office with the most deplorable attributes ever.

Hi Mary,

It's hard to believe that 9/11 was fifteen years ago already. The image of that plane flying into the tower, as well as images of people falling from the building, people running from the building, and other related images will never leave my mind. It all seemed surreal, but it was really happening. Like you and your husband having your morning coffee by the bed, I think that we all can remember where we were and what we were doing when we first saw this nightmare unfold.

Your write has vividly brought it back. Well written, and no ... we will "never forget".

Connie

Thank you, Connie. It was a moment for me much like the Challenger blowing up, and JFK being assassinated when I was a first grader. The moments are engrained in my mind, every tiny nuance. Thank you for your kind review and rating. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Great timely commentary. I was working for Todd Johnston, a home builder in Sarasota, Florida on 9/11. In the middle of our weekly production meeting, I'll never forget it happened on a Tuesday, that's when our production meeting occurred. Todd walked in, something he ever did and said something terrible has happened.

He told us all to come into the employee lounge. A small TV was set up. The first strike had already occurred. We all gasped as the second plane hit.

Todd said, "Go home and be with your families."

Thank you, Thomas, for your RR&R. It was a moment like the Challenger exploding and JFK's assassination for me. Every nuance surrounding those moments engrained in my mind. Thank you for sharing your experience. Have a decent Sunday, if you can under this dark cloud.

and to you Mary Wakeford, thank you for sharing. Your is voice is incredible in any genre you choose to write. This goes without saying, moving and emotional.. keep writing and may we never have to write another memory as all of these, but somehow, I think my words are a pipedream.. jimi

Jimi, thank you for your kind review and beautiful words. The six was amazing too, and completely unexpected. Thank you so very much. I had to turn the television off at one point, seeing the families fifteen years later and the toll its taken on them physically is more than I can bear today. Have a blessed Sunday, and thank you again.
