Oh, haha! I had to read your author notes and then read your senryu a second time to get it. That is funny :) Yes, my dogs are the same. Though, we are working on off-leash walking. We started by letting the leashes drag on the ground for easy catching if needed. Next year the leashes should come off completely. That's only when we're in the park. If we were walking through the neighborhood, they'd be all over the place.

I wish you well in this contest. I think you did a great job. You made me giggle, and take off with my own dog story lol!

Great job with this and congratulations to you and Mina. They do keep us exercised and fit and who can resist their charm. Nicely done and good luck in the contest. Marilyn

Is that Autumn I smell? No, it's only the river, it's only the river. As the great Arte Johnson used too say on Laugh-In....., veeeeeery interesting.....but stupid. Kidding. This was very interesting but far from stoopid. Nose sniffing air, but it's nose, singular, so we are not told whose nose. The dogs? The old man? It's left to us to decide. Then the never ending struggle between walker and the walkee. The dog is now pulling the old man and in effect walking him, but are the roles really reversed? I mean, for that to be the case the collar and leash would be around the neck of the old man and it would be the dog walking upright and saying, "Alright Howard, do your filthy business so we can get the hell back home. And quit licking your balls!" Veeeeeery interesting.

As summer is slowly drawing to a close we all love to read poetry about the fall and taking our dogs for a walk, or the other way around.

My Standard Chihuahua, Miko, a twelve-pound alpha male, may be the
dog you saw dragging the old man along. I am not a senryu wizard, but this looks fine to me.

I love this well written poem. The role reversal is perfect. My son once had a Chow that weighed 100 pounds. I made him take him on walks just to watch the dog literally drag him down the road. Both of them needed the exercise. Good luck in the contest. Have a great day and God bless.

Mike, I laughed when I read your recollections of the 100 pound Chow dragging your son down the road. Thanks for your review.

LOL ... "Who's walking whom" is right! Yep, when a dog follows his nose it can be hard for the owner to keep up. :)

This is a fun entry for the satirical senryu contest. It creates a comical vision for your reader. Well done! Best wishes for the contest!

At least Mini is keeping you fit!!

Yes, Connie, Mina is keeping me fit. If it was up to me, I would retire to my chair for the evening when I come home. Thank you for your review of my comical, satirical senryu which required ten drafts over two days. Our walk yesterday prompted the final edits and submission. Thank you for your review.

Whose walking whom? I completely understand. Since I don't have a dog, I will either have to buy one or borrow one. Haha My goal is 10,000 steps a day too.

I enjoyed your senyru. Perfect for this time of year.

Blessings
Janet
