Congrats on second place. I have to admit I missed the voting for this contest. I love that your dog is named Mina, but the fact she walks you is comical.
Take care,
Russell

I do love irony. To turn the tables on another is a finely honed art. I see your portrayal often in the gated communities and find it to be hilarious.

What a great satori line! Funny fall humor. Role reversal! Ha ha ha. Unusual opening line...made me smiles. Love the image of the dog walking the man and the use of GRIPPING too. My mom's dog would always lead the way and pull us along...so driven! Ha ha ha.Superb alliterative two word closing line. Made me chuckle. Fine consonance of L as well.
Great job dear friend. Bravo!
Happy pats on the head to Mina

Thank you, Rama, for your enthusiastic review of my Senryu which placed second in the contest. I went through ten drafts and two walks with Mina over the course of two days when I read and studied all 500 haiku in Jack Kerouac's "Book of Haikus." During our walks, I paid attention to both what Mina and I were doing and distilled that in my poem. Some of my final changes includes "nose sniffing autumn" instead of "sniffing autumn wind," "gripping leash" , "role reversal" instead of "reversal of roles."
Mina and I are thrilled with the response to our poem. I even gave her your pats on her head. Thanks.

Sis Cat, what a fun senryu to read. Yes, this does seem the case a lot
that animals walk their people. Love the thought of them both
enjoying the autumn scents together.

Hi, Sis Cat
= LOL! Indeed. This is a great senryu entry.
= My husband can take our dachshund for a walk--or rather, the other way around. Pepperoni takes my husband on a RUN.
= I, on the other hand, do well with her, because she senses my illness, she knows better than to take off--lest she drag me all the way!
= Good luck in the contest.

Yes, I have often seen folks who appear to be being walked by their dogs. Thanks for creating this satirical senryu with Mina--I am pleased it was well regarded in the contest. I liked the alliteration in the punchline too. Cheers- Joan
