Hi Cynthia, A wistful Tanka reflecting your memories of past and the impact these had on you. A nice poem and image. Good luck in the contest Cheers Christine

Lovely, an expression of those moments in life we once cherished yet have fallen victim to the progression of time and tendency to forget. Sometimes it is a smell, a sound, a quick site that reacquaints us with a memory we thought to be lost. Well done on this nostalgic post.

I really like this! I like how you put that these images and old antiques "circle back" . That is very much what a memory is...an impression on our souls that circle back to the forefront of out conscience. Well written. Good luck!

-Beautiful image and good presentation.
-Format is good.
-Very effective imagery, such as
"windswept vestiges"
-A very nice look at the past and a certain nostalgia for it:
"leaving imprints on my soul"
-A strong entry for the contest; good luck.

A wonderful choice of words to express how relics can take us back in time. The rhythm is lovely, the words evocative. I like "yesterday's footprints falling, leaving imprints on my soul." You make the reader feel the emotion without describing the scene in detail. That is skill.

Excellent Tanka and the tranquil picture of relics both past present and the future with the waterfall and old bridge bring your poem to life. A poem that makes one think of the nice times in ones life. I know as I walk or hike on one of natures path, I often stop and escape to thoughts of days gone by. I admire one that can write in syllables on different lines and have them make sense.

I would like to have more concrete images to be able to identify with the speaker. The poem is more tell than show. I do like the use of "imprints" and "footprints"...the sounds here are good. Keep writing'
