I have just reviewed another poem by another Sandra on the same picture. Although they are very different, they are both lovely.
I like your use of 'elegant' words such as orb and anew. And the sense of colour you create with words such as glow, gold, golden...

Thank you! This is a Picture This challenge, so you will see quite a few poems written about this particular picture. It's fun to see what everyone comes up with. We have one every two weeks and each members chooses a picture for the rest of us to write about. I'm so pleased you enjoyed my take, now I have to read the rest. I hope you can join us, it's a bit of fun. :) Sandra xx

I might join, Sandra, but I'm not very good at writing poetry. I'm more of a prose person myself...
However, since I joined Fanstory I've written a few not very good poems, or should I call them experiments? :)

That's how we all start, lol. Have a go, we are all quite encouraging on here, okay, there might be the odd one that thinks he/she is Shakespeare or similar But we tend to just let them think it. :) xx

    So how do I join?

Go up to the top and you will see 'Community' click on it and scroll down to 'find a member' then click on 'J' and scroll down till you find 'Jax Franklin' send her a PM and she will put your name on the list and let everyone know you've joined. If you have any problems, get back to me and I will get her to get in touch with you. She's a lovely lady, and has 3 novels on the go at the moment as well as her poetry. Goodness knows how she does it. I have one novel and the occasional poem on the go, that's enough for me!!

Ohhhhh I LOVE that, "Aztec gold" ! Wowsers, what an awesome image it gives me. I can hear them chanting too.

I'm always mulling over the further vs farther thing. I think yours should be farther since you're talking distance? But I dunno. Where's Brooke when we need her expert opinion. Sigh...

I enjoyed this poem and picture, Sandra. You do it so well :))

I just wrote a long answer to you, and then it disappeared! I hate it when that happens. LOL. Right, shortened version... I had another look at that line and still can't make my mind up whether it should be further or farther. I thought 'further down' and 'farther away' yet I can change them around and t still sounds right. I am going to Google it now!! See what you have done to this old worn out brain?? LOL!!! Thank you, Joy, your reviews are always so nice. I'm pleased you liked my take on the picture. Now this was the shortened version of what I wrote before. So you can guess the language used when it disappeared! :) Sandra xxx

Sandra,
Your poem has awesome flow. I felt as if someone was 'singing' it as I read it. I really like the lines about the birds tucking their heads & being soothed by the gentle serenades of the evening. Great use of alliteration of 's' throughout.

I like how the color of the picture matches the color of your background. To me that makes a great looking picture. I did that with mine, too. But I used black. Yours is perfect for the colors of the setting sun.

Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

Yes, I read yours, and the black against the storm clouds stood out beautifully. Really dramatic. But what I liked most about yours, was, you 'showed' us, not 'told' us. And that is what takes the poet to a far higher level than a rhymer. I'm really pleased you did like mine, Jan, that was so nice of you to say so. :) Sandra xx
