Hard to find words to comment on this. So moving, so well written I felt the fear even smelt it. No wonder it won. Fantastic!

Very nice story. It's poignant and powerful and really evokes a clear sense of what life would have been like at that time. And as we all know, lest we forget. So thank you for not letting us forget.

I can see why this story won the contest Ulla, very good and gripping. You know how to grab the reader's attention and pull them into the plot.

An amazing story! We don't know how fortunate we are until revelations such as this are brought to our attention. This was informative, enlightening and important. To have a glimpse of the frightening life of thousands of people who've done nothing wrong.
Thank you.

Hi Marv, thank you so very much. Your acknowledgement means so much to me. You are right. It's only when we hear true stories like this that we realise how fortunate we are. Thanks again. All the best. Ulla:))

Hello Ulla,
It's a nice piece of War and History Fiction; and becomes more interesting on finding out that it's based on true events.
Simple as well as impressive phraseology.
Smooth and captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end, with lively imagery at some places.
Interesting, and Best of Luck!

Hola, guapa!
Que buena esta esta historia.
You did an excellent job at showing what had to be done to avoid Geordie take over. I hate those stupid Nazis. They were the worse and the attrocities they committed are unforgivable. I hope they burn in hell.
Bien hecho! Good luck in the contest, I will look for you in the the voting booth.

Comment from Bill Schott
The vignette us an excellent example of what kind of heroic and scary actions had to be taken to help people avoid the onslaught of the Nazis during their attempt to take over Geordie.

Thank you so very much, Bill and for the brilliant stars. They mean a lot to me. I'm sorry but I have to ask, who or what is 'Geordie' ? All the best. Ulla:))

That is apparently an auto-correct of "the world".

Oh I see, learning all the time. Thanks for that. :)

G'day Ulla. Sorry I've not been around much. I've been disabled by a dose of Filipino flu.
"That's great. See you later this afternoon then." And with that(,) Mrs Goldman left."
"She had often played the game with him to see how fast he could run up the stairs and hide in his parent(')s big wardrobe."
"They did the Nazi salute. "We'll be back." And with that(,) they left."
"He took her outstre(t)ched hand, and they made their way down to the kitchen."
Those were some of the toughest times the humanity has ever had to live through and all because of one psycho's ambitions! I read the diary of Ann Frank a few years ago and your story reminds of that. I still feel so bad for the millions who suffered.
A great contest entry and I wish you the best of luck in it.
Cheers Fez

Oh Robyn, thanks a lot for this. Yes, she was a special lady, but so were so many others. The Danes fought the only way they knew how. In their small way, but with great impact. All the best, and a hug. Ulla:)))

I knew that many very brave resistance fighters saved as many Jewish families as they could, but I had no idea that the Danes managed to save so many. Among such horror, some people manage to do the extraordinary.
