An honest poem that gives us a glimpse of one person's journey. It really is up to ourselves to create what we want in this life. The line about a loving Mother and helping others resonated with me. I always felt like the black sheep in my family too. Cheers, judester

We don't realize in our youth that people who pick on others and attempt to tear down someone's self-esteem, are insecure themselves. Those people use projection to feel better about themselves. Your poem is well written with a nice message of triumph over tormentors who turned out to be weak. Good job, good luck with the contest.

I think one line seems a bit wordy consider saying, " no longer do people take advantage of you."
