A cynical view if these castle owners, but very well presented in rhythm and rhyme. I thought the collusion was quite clever. An excellent poem and great example for the potlatch crew.

Ahh, that was my jealousy coming out, Tom! LOL. No, I wouldn't want one, think of all that cleaning! My thoughts came from seeing so many people with huge houses that can't really afford them. The are soon put up for sale again. Silly really. Thank you for the lovely review, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Sandra,
This is a great entry. Too many people have been affected by the same decisions you have written. When we learn to be satisfied within our means we will always be happy. God bless.

Had to comment as this made me smile. It is indeed a reflection of not only today's misplaced priorities but of our ancestors as well. Well done and you've given us much to ponder in this teaching rhyme. Loren

Sandra, I think you have done a grand job for this picture challenge. You have told a story that is well written and has a clever ending -
So if you're looking for a home that stands high on the hill,
I know where one is up for sale--a bargain if you will.
- very nicely done. I thought the whole concept was executed well making the story interesting and entertaining to the end. Well done on this enjoyable read. ~DD

Thank you so much, Karyn. I'm glad you liked my take on the picture. There are many of these mansions going up for sale in the UK, all because they are too expensive to keep up. Still can't afford one for myself, even if it was going cheap! xsx Sandra

Well...the bank owns all houses except those held in fee simple title..That is the scam...
They should not have been so obnoxious and ostentatious..
Nice poem...with partial rhymes...

Love this story. Talk about keeping up with the Jones', except this kicks it up a notch taking it to the heights of nobility. It got so hot in their kitchen, they had to run from the hills, not to them.
Well, you know what they say about "pride coming before a fall." They were obviously not familiar with the saying.
Well done.

Thank you so much. Yes, I know a few people who like to 'keep up' with the Jones' but they are having a miserable life trying to stay there. I'm so pleased you liked my take on the picture. :) Sandra xxx

Sandra, I really enjoyed that picture you used to infuse it into this absolutely great poem. Mostly very poignant but also quite thought provoking with the message of what happens when one lives about their means. Most excellent piece of story telling poetry!
Hope is well and my computer lost the chapters I had written about Cody and Alex. I have been through times of extreme pain and tests. I am having surgery on the16th to do some work on my urinary system! Love you my special friend. xxx

Thank you my dear friend. I am so sorry to hear you are going through more pain, and from the sounds of it, a lot of pain! I had hoped things were settling down now, but it seems like its flaring up again! I will pray for you on the 16th, my friend.
Cody and Alex can wait until you feel up to it again, it is so annoying to lose work on the internet. I had thought I'd lost some the other day, but I went into the deleted files and found them there, so perhaps yours will be too. Check your bin!
Take care my dear friend, and rest. Always with much love to my very good friend! xxx Sandra
