Oi, i can return if I wanna! I enjoyed this little piece. I think most will identify with the sentiments expressed. The form's spot on. I always think when the final word is a single one, it's key to find one which draws the whole thing together and sums it all up. Hard to do, but you've got it here.
'we ran with the sun all day
and the night smiled, "Go home"'
So true for many of us, I'll bet. I love 'the night smiled'.
Great job

It's so sad how children never go out and play anymore. I spend much more time outside than most children do. I don't think most of them know how to play like children, these days. Good nonet, mikey~Debbie

This brings back childhood memories that unfortunately today's children will never have. Love the retro picture you've used mikey, and a good answer to this nonet subject. Hopefully I'll be back for this week's challenge,
cheers,
valda.

I'm old enough to remember days like this, your poem did a wonderful job of reminding me of those fun summer evenings! Your syllable count is correct also. I really enjoyed reading this!

This is such a great nonet! I especially like the line "worry never paid a visit". I sure miss those carefree days. Your poem is skillfully written and the picture goes along perfectly. I really enjoyed reading this one. :)

Mikey; no keys, fun in the sun, food and friends. Yes, good o days of playing, "spy" and crack the whip on ice. Oh, lots of ball games made you stronger. Everyone knew you be name! Fun nonet! (I've been at the fair and funeral. Yes, got lots of first place ribbons in flowers and photos!). flylikeaneagle

s i g h. . .
how fondly I remember those days;
fly out the door and play all day.
Momma rang cowbell to call
us for dinner - all six
of us were scattered
(woods, creek and fields)
but each of
us dashed
home.
Sadly, it's rarer and rarer that I see a world where doors
aren't locked and children explore with abandon. But I
assure you - in rural pockets - it still exists :-)
Thanks for the memories :-)

This is a reminder of less complicated times. I remember where my parents didn't lock the house door when we left. It was a safer world in some places, at least and for some regions.
