Very well done, my friend. Timely of course considring all, that goes on these days. There is an old country song that I remember called "Pride goes Before A Fall" by Jim Reeves.

I liked these lines in your poem in particular, Roy:

"The Bible says walk humbly with, your God 'cause He promotes-
and you will find if you wear pride, you'll wear waste's tattered coat."

Good writing, Roy. Bob

This poem goes to the gut. It strips away the BS and throws out the shades. Each stanza his a history lesson and a warning. We've seen it happen when we allow ourselves to be pander to by lunatics who claiming they have all the answers and they can fix everything. When all they want is power.
I got chills reading it.

P.S. I was about to read Dean Kuch's Castle Keep Without Walls poem then I read his author's note to read your poem first.

I have always heard the pride goes before a fall. In modern America, pride and haughtiness is being deemed as desirable and profitable. People who are humble and loving are scoffed at as being weak, low energy or unmotivated. If only God's justice would strike down the haughty and not the entire land.

Fantastic writing! :) Your message stands true. I think our country for the most part has lost their way. It's sad to say, but I think its getting closer to the end. If most of the world would go by God's word, it would be a better place to be. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy reading what you post.
Great job!
Always your fan,
Shana :)

Hi Roy, this is a very forceful poem describing what the word has come to. Empires come and go, and looking at history, and always fall due to man's folly. The times we are living right now only proves that. A very well written poem. Gives food for thought. All the best. Ulla:))

That was an amazing poem, and a hard hitting one too, Roy. Your words filled me with despair for our world, it is a world that is increasingly becoming Godless. The terrible things that are being committed, and being committed using God's name, are dreadful! Our God would never want this. Excellent writing, my friend, one that everyone should read. This is a virtual 6, have no real ones left. :( Well done, my friend. :) Sandra xx

A thought provoking poem Roy. In my humble opinion there is a difference between pride and haughtiness. My English is not that good, so probably I'm wrong. There is a Dutch saying that says: Haughtiness becomes for the fall. And if you look at the history it's true.Their greed has no limits and will destroy them. A great write, that everybody has to read, Sorry I have no sixes left, but you really deserved it. Fia

The lack of respect this nation has for our savior simply floors me. We are headed for destruction for sure if we can't come together as a whole. Bring God back into our schools would be the best way to start.
God bless Roy!
