I feel there is a difference between pride and conceit. To me,,pride is a positive attribute that honors the gifts we have been given as people and nations. Conceit is the glorification of ones attributes at the expense of others. One is vanity..
The poem is good and gives the poet's pov on the subject. The lines and rhymes, good.
The reference to the US may be misplaced since we give more foreign aid and have allowed in more immigrants than most countries ever will. Miss Liberty was the idea of France...
If we lose one million jobs in a year and allow one million to enter as happened in 2008, we are cutting our own throats...
You are a kind man with good ideas and writing.

This is not aimed at the US per se, but against the folly of history, and the US has presumed, and is looked to for moral leadership by a lost world, without it, there's no hope. Thanks for the great review, blessings, Roy

Yes...we should have moral leadership but most of us did not choose to lead the world...
Most of us want to help our own succeed first..
No country, or family can help others, without first having a strong foundation...We do
not owe others unless we interfere in their lives...Iraq..

You're right of course

Roy, I refuse to let bombastic rhetoric be the voice
of America. I truly believe that we continue to be
a moral compass for our world and we continue to
welcome others to our shores and nations all over
the world continue to admire our democracy, wishing
it were in their own country. I will not let a demagogue
speak for our nation. We must stand together and tell
the world that we have not abandoned them.
Be that said, (whew), let's continue to model that code.
It begins with those citizens who still believe that America
is going to lead this globe through this crisis of terror. -Bill

Hi, Roy
= Indeed, "Pride goeth before the fall".
= Many a man and country have risen and fallen because of it.
= You'd think they'd learn--right??
= Seems to only be getting worse.
= Excellent write, my friend. I agree 100%.

Roy, so much truth here. During our Bible reading this morning I was thinking about our country and if God has about had enough. It's scary

Verrrry good. I've been saying for eight years that America's time in the sun is ending. All great nations fall, and we're at teh age where it often happens from within. Mistakes were made by Ted Kennedy, who ruined a good immigration system, by LBJ, who forced fathers out of the house in black neighborhoods, causign the loss of working male role models, and Obama and the blatantly corrupt govt that he built around himself.
The flush handle has been pressed, and there is no turning back. The youth have been brainwashed by school propagandists, American history has not been taught accurately for many decades, ... I could go on and on with proof of irreversible damage, but I won't upset myself any further. I feel bad for my child and her generation. I'd like grandchildren, but I fear for their safety and survival in what is coming.

Comment from His Grayness
Excellent work indeed, and as always, from this fine author. I appreciate the strong message offered here in these particularly difficult and challenging times not only for our nation but the entire world. We must consider all righteous and proper works and mindsets to weather the storm of the heathens that seek to destroy the world....not only from OUT THERE but also sadly, FROM IN HERE! HIS GRAYNESS
