Amazing, powerful, and most of all, true. I have my opinions just like everyone else, but many people need to remember the plain truth that you have stated so eloquently. We as a nation like to believe that we are invincible. But like the Word says, 'On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.'
Lately it seems like our nation is slowly sinking. Division has crept into every corner and crevice. We cannot fix this alone. It will only get worse if we try.

Well the poem tells the might
That is to hold at all times
For only with God can we survive
Never by any nation that becomes too proud

All the kingdoms of this world will fall
Non will remain forever
Still the truth of life does come
Finding God and life ever after

Well we see the time is short
Still many things are left to fight for
We may never find a Utopia on earth
But we can strive to keep the dream bloom forth

A poem warning wrapped in the lessons of history, on aabb rhymed quatrains that flow is n iambic heptameter. Your examples are quite telling, anfpd given what is occurring in the world and the US today, quite compelling. Well said. Biblical notes are outstanding too.

G'day Roy. That's a powerful piece, mate. Coupled with your notes it is a very thought provoking write. Pride has been the downfall of so many great nations and yet we seem to continue to let it bloom. The world is a sad and scary place right now and those who have made it that way will soon find themselves punished, not by man, but by God. I wish them luck and certainly wouldn't want to be in their shoes.

Great work once again, my friend.

Cheers Fez

Royowen, a wonderful work depicting the rise and fall of many nations. The seven greatest world powers did not stand the test of time. Governments are backed by imperfect man filled with greed, power, pride and dishonesty. History dictiates the demise of such. A wonderful write.. driven home.. jimi

A superb poem with a strong, resonate message for our troubled times. You make an eloquent and forceful cautionary message about the need to "walk humbly." Your poem is well-rhymed but the most important aspect is your Bible-based message of wisdom.

Thank you for sharing and caring.

It is sad to say, but I feel the US is in its declining years. If nothing else, the presidential race should show that, but it is happening in so many other ways as the rich become richer and the rest fall into poverty. Well written poem on a sad subject. Have a blessed day, my friend~Debbie

If the writer wanted its readers to be deeply moved & to think seriously, then the writer has succeeded & then some! The message about 'pride coming before the fall & what history can teach us' if we only pay attention
has been fully completed here & sticks with the reader from the very first read to its 'nth' reading. This is one of those works that most everyone reading it probably secretly thinks "I sure wish I had been the one to write that!" - Weslyn-Marie

Good for you, Roy to remind us of the values that built society, especially those of the USA. The country is in a bit of a pickle at the moment, and it will have to work hard to restore order and respect for their laws and for one another. The US has isolated itself from the rest of the world, while trying to insulate itself against things happening beyond its borders. It's a delicate balancing act - and so far, I've not seen someone who is capable of fixing things. Faith can take us a long way - but it also takes conviction. An excellent poem that reminds us just how fragile our peace, and way of life has become.
Rose.

I agree Rose, things are still fixable, if people only heed the lessons of history, the world needs a strong leader, and the US is the only hope I see. Thanksvforbthe great review, blessings, Roy
