Hi Mikey

For sure the opportunity to feel real love is worth not ever knowing that feeling... sigh! You are a dear, sweet, romantic, soppy, sugar-pus. :)) Ahhh if only we could have the love returned ... I guess many of us have been on one side of the coin and/or the other... we've had enough time to make mistake after mistake, until we get the learning. I can look back and say "I've had a great life" - sure there were plenty of sad and sorrowful times ... we love, leave or are left, then move on, filling our hearts and our souls.

I love how you've embedded the poem in the very romantic image, so appropriate for your 2-4-2.

Of course if that were me in the boat, there is some possibility I may just be checking to see if the cement shoes still can't be seen. There must be some soul fulfilment in revenge? LOL (jk). I think you may have another winner here Mikey! Well thought out and perfectly worded. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

I've been insanely lucky to be honest. It's absurd. But I do believe this. No matter what happens, I plan to die smiling.
I love the embedding thing. I've improved. It isn't that difficult. I'm not very technical, so if I can do it, anyone can. Thanks so much, mikey Hugs to you. :)) xxo

    Hi Mikey

Quick off the mark tonight, well maybe not night where you are? LOL I just had an image of your open coffin with the biggest smile on your face ... I'm sure you will, but not for some time yet!! The embedding does look great ... I love the picture and artwork combined. I may try it one of these days. Sunday for you, I've just hit Monday over an hour ago. The beautiful sunny winter's day enticed me into the great outdoors today ... my Potlatch will have to wait until the morn... I'll be catching some zzzz' shortly. More hugs back - Lovi xoxoxo

Great job with the 2-4-2! And no, you're not a fool, Mikey. You're a true romantic who understands the old adage, "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Happy Sunday!

Hi Mikey, what a thoughtful take on unconditional and true love! You captued the selfless quality of this sort of relationship and I thought the word choices and economy were very well done. Best of luck to you in the contest.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed this. It's not always easy to follow this philosophy, but I think it's a good one. Thanks so much, mikey

I would hate never knowing love. That would be horrible to me. I am sure I am just a romantic. I did enjoy reading your poem. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

LOL Well obviously "fool" and "unrequited" go hand in hand as that's what you end up feeling like...Great pairing LOL
With that said I am of the same opinion as you.
Better to have loved than never to have loved at all.
Who cares if it's not returned? We don't really get a choice who we fall for.
Nicely done in minimal form

Yep. They certainly do. It does work out occasionally, and it really rocks the world when it does. So, worth the risk. Yeah, I don't mind getting my heart broke. I'm always gonna be in the game. I'm gonna be smiling when I die. :)) mikey

I love the artwork even though her reaching into the water is a little tension building.

Of course if love fills the soul even if the love is unrequited the soul still shines with love. That's rather paradoxical isn't it? Because the opposite also applies. Even though one is loved if they don't feel love, they feel unloved. It's all a rather complex concept and I think you've done a fabulous job with this one, Mav.

All the best to you in the contest.

Ange

Ah, glad you caught that about the water. Yes. It isn't quite as easy as the words imply.
Wow. If anyone should know that the opposite applies, it is me. I've experienced as much many, many times. I actually didn't consider that when I wrote this. It is soooooo very true and quite a terrible experience actually. I should nominate you for "Revelation of the year". Something I needed to know for sure. It is complex. I suppose the madly in love person is pretty single minded. Hard to see the other perspective. Thanks a bunch. Very wise and quite revealing.

The immortal words of Lord Alfred Tennyson come to mind here, Mike:

"'Tis better to have loved and lost
than to have never loved at all"
... I don't know if I agree completely with "the Lord" or not, but I can certainly understand where he was coming from.
Elegant 2-4-2 entry.
Best wishes to you in the contest.

There are times when I have my doubts. But overall I wouldn't trade it for a loveless life. It can get pretty painful though, yep. Love Tennyson. My favorite. :)) mikey

Excellent work with this entry. Strong message that I also agree with. I find the short ones very hard but you make them look easy and I know they are not. I sincerely wish you all the best in this contest.

How nice of you to say so. It is possible to say something with these if you don't try to say too much I think. So glad you liked this. It's my philosophy. Sometimes I question it, but overall I believe it. mikey
