There is no doubt that infants are messy eaters. Your poem does a good job of pointing that out.

In regards to elders. Well. You just provided another reason for not wanting to grow old.

Thanks for sharing this. JW

This is an interesting piece. I like the reminder that some of our elders can make a mess also. It flows nicely and is easy to read. Good job and good luck.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I just had to give this a six as I care for a gentleman who as you say is a messy eater and has pureed meals and just like a young child he gets in a terrible mess. This just so described the situation with him. Thanks for sharing. He is eighty nine.

Not sure what to say about this piece. It is about messes and the funniness of them and as such the mishmash in the style is in keeping. It would have been more fun to have more verses which would take away the seriousness of it's sound. I get the feeling through your word choices that you don't like messes much. Neither do I.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read and review. Your kind comments are really appreciated; as are the stars. It can be an adventure trying to keep yukky hands from grabbing you; but in all honestly it is the smell of the pureed meat that is the killer blow, even mixing with veggies does help other than making it look even worse.

yeah it's true and it never occurred to me before
that as babies we start with the same icky mess
that we end up on when we are old and toothless.
really enjoyed this and it was my pleasure to
review your words

A cute poem that ties a baby's food in with old age. Each must eat mushed up foods.
I like the imagery of the colorful blends, and equating that with a color palate.
The ending is charming, having them take the food and smear it as an activity!
Hey, color therapy is on the up-rise!

Well done,
Rhonda

I still spill on myself when I eat. That is why I never wear anything white to work. Fun little Messy poem. I hope you do well in the contest. It was delightful.

You "paint" a scary picture for those of us getting to that age, but you have done it with humor which got to me. Loved it. Good luck in the contest.

LOL - in some countries, the meal is partaken without utensils at all - nan bread, for example, is used to eat Indian food at a restaurant right here in Toronto, Canada. I have to say, I was rather surprised that I enjoyed it because I DON'T enjoy food that's to be eaten with our fingers. It's a pet peeve of mine!

Great poem. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read and review. Your kind comments are really appreciated; as are the stars. MMM I wonder if it is the same restaurant I used to frequent when in the mood for East Indian- I know there were several but only a couple that served great food.

I'm trying to remember the name of the street, but for some reason I can't...yes, it's an East Indian restaurant on Gerrard??? The food is FABULOUS, though it's no fancy place - just a small, family run business.
