I have PTSD and it made me kind of laugh of how you said people don't know you're sick. They don't know you're struggles. They just see your smile and think you're fine. It's how it is with PTSD too. I hope you have a some good years left and you don't spend the last part of your life suffering, that's no way to live. Hang in there friend and keep writing.

Thank you rebekka for this review and excellent comments. I made some really dumb mistakes in getting married twice. The only good thing was my daughter and son from wife one. Then got married the second time and later that night, I asked myself why?

Things healthwise have been nasty for the last eleven years, but my strong faith in God has kept me going.

Hope you are having an enjoyable Thursday,,,,,,,,Jim

Laying it all out there in full Technicolor for all the world to see is a courageous act.

However, even though your life has had its ups and downs, ins and outs, and sideways times, you seem to be at peace knowing that your eternal future appears on track.

As long as you "Cast your vote for Jesus. Keep your eyes on Calvary," as my adage goes, the rest of everything else will take care of itself.

Thank you for this review. I enjoyed your comments about having and keeping my faith in God. This is one thing that has been very strong for many years. When I first got sick in 2005, I, then, put my life and soul in my Savior's hands. Ten of the last eleven years something major has happened. I realize that if I wasn't good with Him, then I would not be here today.

Have a great day my friend,,,,,,,,Jim

Hi Jim, this is a wonderfully written poem. Very nice rhyme and it flows well. I'm so sorry that you have cancer. I just went through a small battle of it with my mom. She is taking a cancer drug for the next 5 years, after surgery and radiation. I liked the prayer at the end too.

MelB, thank you for your excellent review and your warm comments. It has been a very grueling eleven years. One thing I don't do is complain and ask why? The cancer has attacked me three times and actually I have three times in nine years have been a breath away from death. I am still here and I know why, I am still doing my purpose, which is baring my soul here to show people that loving, trusting and having faith in Jesus is the answer.

I hope and will pray for your mother and yourself each day of my life. I apologize for this lengthy answer, but , this is me!

I hope you enjoy this day another gift from God ,,,,,,,Jim

To have lived the number of years that you have, to witness the things you have witnessed. To have felt and experience the things you have felt and experienced and to still be able to reflect on them without bitterness or rancor, shows that maybe, just maybe you have learned a thing or two along the way. God bless you.

There were days, months and years that were grueling, but I made a vow that no matter how good things got or how ugly they might become I would see things through! I married twice and learned that I didn't need to do that anymore. I am happy now.

Thank you for the review and your great comments,,,,,,,Jim

You have the right attitude towards life. Regardless of the situation (positive or negative), we must look towards the Lord. We must trust Him that He knows Best.

Blessing to you.

I like these intense poems that are so revealing and personal...Well written and it digs deep.

I just lost my father last year, and almost to the tee I lost, more painfully, my grandmother one year later... Just last week.

I have a cousin that serves God in a way I've never seen before because of an experience he had with God, and he told me that he hates his past because of what kind of person he is, and I told him that if he didn't go through all those terrible days and nights of being a punk and hitting rock bottom, he would never had that experience...My point is, our past is how we got to be where we are now.

Good luck my friend, and very nice poem!

Mike that was the truest thing you could have told your cousin. We cannot continue to live in the past because one can never reach his/her potential. Trusting in the Lord has helped me through many a crisis.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your father and grandmother in a year's time !

Thank you for the review and comments,,,,,,,Jim

There comes a time in life when mortality becomes more the "concept".
Whenever that time comes, the human mind seems predisposed to take
"inventory" and acknowledge both the peaks and valleys its vessel has
been blessed with. But more importantly, there is an acceptance that
comes with that. . .the lucky few will be able to say "No complaints, no regrets".
Not because there were no trials and downsides, but because they have
come to a place of peace with them.

Your poem expresses this "place" well :-)
