Suggestion: bucket and spade in each hand? With respect. I loved the photo to compliment your interesting cattle on the beach scenario. Maybe you muse is drinking at the bar on the cruise ship? XX ****** six virtual stars cause I'm animal lover and I don't have any sixers for you.

Thank you so much, Kay, for your lovely review, and suggestion. I've had another look at that, because you were right, it wasn't written down as it should be. I have changed one word that changes the line without changing the rhythm, so thank you for that. Yeah, that muse was getting sizzled in the evenings, and that is probably where it still is! LOL. Big hugs Sandra xxx

This is such a cute poem, I like the contrast between the bovine's freedom and that of little children. Yes both are "cute" one is huge compared to the other. You're rhyming and singsong feel are consistent. Thank you so much for sharing.

Enjoyable read, Sandra. The last stanza is a nice way to tie it all together. I like the play on castles and cattle as well. Well done.

Thank you, Clare. One reviewer said the last stanza was out of keeping with the poem and gave me a 4! I thanked him very nicely, lol! I am truly pleased you liked it. Thank you. :) Sandra x

Sandra, you've woven a peaceful narrative for us to read based on this picture prompt. Excellent rhyme scheme (aabb), and visual imagery make it an enjoyable read.

A very nice poem, Sandra, last stanza especially. It gives us a glimpse of an unusual sight--cows sharing a beach with humans. I'm glad for the cows having the freedom to roam. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn. One reviewer thought that stanza ruined it and gave me 4 stars! LOL, I thanked him for his kindness! Well, I'm really pleased you liked it. Thanks my friend. :) Sandra xx

Your poem has to satisfy yourself, not anyone else.

Lovely poem, Sandra. And we can, and should. But always there's one to add a bull, and we end with the running at Pamplona, where one tests his strength against the other. Can't we all just graze together?

I've heard about those bull running events, they must be mad! The streets are so narrow with no room for error. Thank you for another of your lovely review, Jay, I'm pleased you liked it. And, Jay, that was such a nice thing you said on my Profile page. I have had such a lot of help from you with my spag, and to have you say you are proud of me, meant such a lot. I think I am going to have buy (if you have published) your Trinning saga, because I want to read more of your work but you are so far ahead I know I would get lost starting on number three. Thank you again, my friend! :) Sandra xxcxc

Sandra, thanks. I don't blame you about the Trining Trilogy. Only 2 or 3 chapters left and then the whole thing goes under the EDIT. I'll then publish (perhaps self publish) starting with Book I. What I've done for others who've shown an interest is have them PM me their email address which I keep in a secure source off line and will let them know when it is published. Thanks for showing an interest.

We were in Gretna one time and a Highland cow charged at me. I was only a kid, but I've never forgotten it. Maybe it knew I was a sassenach, and resented my presence on its side of the border. :)

This is a cute poem, Sandra - not an easy challenge, I'd venture to say, looking at that strange picture! I'd be watching where I put my feet on that beach - or tell the kids to watch what they put in their buckets! I like your message in the last stanza. Very nice. If only...

Yes, I have to agree with you, it wasn't an easy challenge this time, but some members have done wonderfully funny poems, mine is quite simple compared to those. I've never actually seen a beach with cows on, but I have seen the size of the cow pats, and that is just the thing my kids would put in the buckets, lol! Thank you, Av, for your lovely review, and fun comments. :) Sandra xx

Hi, Sandra.

I stumbled a bit on what appears to be anapaestic meter in first and last lines (da-DUM-da-da-DUM-da-da-DUM) and the other lines written an iambic meter (da-DUM-da-DUM-da-DUM-da-DUM), but once I got over that 'catastrophe', LOL, I found the poem very enjoyable.

Subtle and very clever alliteration in 'castles/cattle', and the connection as the cattle and the people share the beach - though I hope the cattle take their cow-pats away with them. ;-)

Excellent!

Best wishes, my great friend, Ray xx

I've just read it again, and you're right, I stumbled too! It took me so long to get a poem for this picture, it was a real challenge this time. We've had a beach one before, not with cows on it though. From what I was told as a child, probably untrue, it is the cow-pats that give us those lovely big black mushrooms! I love them, they are the tastiest ... can only say that it is because of their ummmm, droppings LOL! Thanks my friend, for your usual lovely and fun review. :) Sandra xxx
