sandra, there are so many challenges on this site. You have created a magnificent poem from the inspiration. I do not think your muse has left. Jimi

Hi Sandra, this is a lovely little poem the picture has inspired you to write. How true it is that all creatures are born to be free. I like it very much. You paint a picture in my mind with your words. Hugs Ulla xxx

Thank you, Ulla. I did find it hard to write for this time, so I am more than pleased you liked it. I am way behind in my reviewing, had some stressful days concerning my poor brother, he has just been told he has cancer, and I'm devastated for him. Life is hard sometimes. Thank you again, my friend. xxx Sandra

Oh, Sandra, I'm so sorry for your brother you and the family. No wonder you are behind. There are more important things going on in your life at the moment. It must be hard. I'm thinking of you. xxx

Hi Sandra

A great picture. I've been laughing my head off over misscookie's. Your poem and this image bring many memories for me, I always could never decide between country Australia and the beach. Thus I thought a farm in the country but by the beach sounded perfect. Cows of course!! I hadn't thought of them being on the beach thought, some unpleasant lumps of poo might be a turn-off. Haha! Your poem is a delight and excellent for the image. From a child's POV cows on the beach does sound like fun. Excellent rhyme and meter which flows effortlessly as I read. Great work. Since I've been doing Potlatch with the rhyme and meter poems, my free verse muse has left me. I can't believe I missed the deadline, and not even a poem half written. You're much more prolific than I am and your muse sounds like she's been peeking over your shoulder all the time. I hear it's been pretty hot over there, we've had some cold weather but the winter is being warm and sunny at the moment (where I am). The snow slopes are having a good season. Even snow on the mountains inland from us. Hope all is well with you and yours. Love & hugs - Lovi xoxo

Hi, Lovi, thanks for the lovely review, my friend. I have to admit I prefer the rhymed poetry to the free verse, I don't understand how you know if its poetry or prose when it's free verse, that's how daft I am! LOL! It has been hot and still is, I am not going to complain though because it won't last, it never does in England. The seasons have changed such a lot here, there is hardly any difference between them now. :( Never mind, we have some sunshine now. Sounds very pretty where you are and to have a nice warm winter, sounds bliss!! We're all fine, hope you are yours are too. Thanks again, dear friend, big hugs and much love back. :) Sandra xx

    LOL Sandra

.... YOU ... daft? I think not. Haha! When I first joined FS I expected to be working with rhythm and rhyme, which I did. I discovered the free verse, and it was for me! Also the Japanese shorter forms.:))

The jump from poetry to prose is quite a leap, despite that free verse can seem like prose. I enjoy rhythm and rhyme if it is interesting and entertaining ... yours is ... even your children's poetry is suitable and enjoyable for adults. I'm sorry, I am so interested into reading your new prose ... another side of your talent. I do expect to see your name on The Best Seller List one day. I don't say that lightly. :))

My sister wrote me from London many years back and I couldn't believe when she said she was hanging out the window trying to find some relief from the humidity. I have always thought of England as being much cooler than that. You have been having some heat these past few years. Our weather has changes as well, the distinct seasons merging. I'm pretty sheltered where I am, just north of Sydney. We even miss some of the high winds and have milder doses of the storm than the city has, despite being so close. It is pretty with all the waterways. I'm a water babe, and couldn't live away from it for long, even though I love the outback, I usually like to find a creek or river, or wetlands nearby. I'm pleased life is running smoothly for you, we do deserve respite from our challenges. You 'sound' in good form. lol. Take care. Yes, much love and huge hugs - Lovi xoxooxox

G'day Cuz. Very nicely done take on the picture. Lovely rhyme and flow and nice even, dare I say it....meter. It's really interesting to read how we each interpret the same image.

Great job, mate.

Cheers Fez

HI Sandra, No!! your muse is not on vacation sweet girl...this is a wonderful poem...it tells the truth of how these people live in peace with the cattle on the beach...they are not pushed away...and taken from their environment...much like we do with our wildlife...and it looks so peaceful...I love your poem...and the picture is priceless...love ya you...Linda xxoo ******

Bless you, dear lady, you always say the nicest things. I'm really pleased you like this one, I did struggle. It's an unusual picture isn't it. I have never been on a beach where they have had cows on it. But, I checked on Google, it seems they love being close to the sea and lakes. Big hugs, my sweet friend, love you too! Sandra xxx

That's an interesting sight to see cattle standing on the beach; yet it does emphasize the fact, as you point out, that man and beast can interact without interfering with each other.
Too bad humans can't co-exist like this.
The rhyming and meter are well done and bring a nice flow to the poem.

Thank you so much for this lovely review. Yes, it's a very unusual picture, I certainly have never seen cows on any beach I've been on. I'm glad you liked my take on it. :) Sandra xxx

I would have to do a poem about the scientists whose grand experiment failed, the new breed of milk cow with a little lemming DNA added...
Fine poem to picture work.

Now, why didn't I think of that?? I had such a hard time figuring out one for this challenge. I would love you to write one with the theme of the scientists, I'm sure you would write a cracker of a poem. Thanks, Red, for the lovely review. :) Sandra xx

I am pleased you were inspired by the group's picture selection. I enjoyed your rhymed couplets in these quatrains and your theme of freedom and tranquility. Smiles- Joan
