An excellent piece of flash fiction Debbie, and what a happy one too.

I enjoyed reading about Jill and her love of books. A lucky penny eh? Many wish for something good to happen, Was it the lucky penny, well I believe. so it probably was. Hope she shared some with the homeless man though.

Hi there, this was certainly a story wit a twist and in the most unlikely place. So she came to a small fortune that would save her from eviction. Well done. All the best. Ulla:))

Well Debbie you've certainly captured the topic of - in the most unlikely of places - with this ending. I think I might check out my library tomorrow, (Ha Ha). Well done, a great read,
cheers,

Aww. This was perfect. I love how she was such a nice person and sooooo worthy of a little luck falling her way. What a surprise even though I guess I should've guessed it, but I bet no one did. LOL It was right in front of us too. Great job. mikey

Can't you just see the pusher fleeing the cops, scuttling through the library hiding his crack cocaine and his cash among the books...maybe he's building five upstate by the time of the story...excellent flash fiction.

Yes, I liked this post. I always take time to pick up pennies. I think God's smiling at me and the penny is just a reminder. I know it's silly but... I enjoyed reading your post.

That would be a terrific find now wouldn't it. I think the money had been hidden there by a senior citizen who didn't trust banks and when that person died the books were donated to the Library and the money was there for the first person to check out the book. Finders Keepers in this instance. LOL Fun write Debbie. XX Nancy

Debbie, I think the moral to your flash fiction, is above all else, "It Pays to Read

It seems a shame to me that we are becoming a people us are losing the joy of reading from the printed page. As I grew up reading was a sanity saver for me in a troubled home life. Patricia.

I agree. Me too. I read all the time when I was young. It took me away from the nightmare of real life and took me somewhere exciting. I used to particularly like biographies where I read about real people doing exciting and successful things. Thank you, my friend~Debbie

Now that really was a lucky penny! I'm off to the library to check out some books... just in case. You never know.

A well written little piece.
