Hi, Fiona
This is such a lovely upbeat tribute. It just feels so good to know your memories are so rich that you can't help but smile. That isn't always the case. Wow, that son of yours has some talent. What an excellent detailed drawing and the perfect artwork to accompany your piece. A perfect minute poem, meter, rhyme all on the money. Welcome to our little group. There is no escape. You're one of the cool kids now. Just loved this and your added history in your notes were a joy to read. mikey
If you like I can add your poem to our list in Poetry Potlatch so the rest of the group can review it. Check us out in the challenges forum. I'm trying not to kidnap you. LOL

I'm truly sorry for your loss, I don't know what I would do without my parents, or one of them. I believe this poem gave true value to saying good-bye and also to living for the now, not the what if's. I dislike saying I enjoyed a poem when it's dealing with the death of someone's loved one, so I shall say it is a very good poem. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, Ginger, thank you so much. This would make my Papa's smile even broader. He is where he wants to be and I am happy about that. Mama is still going... also wishing she wasn't... turned 96 in April. Thanks again, and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

A very well-written minute poem. No one really knows when our time is to go. I left my father's sickbed under the impression he will be okay. The next morning when I arrived at home 1000km away the news came through he passed in the early hours of the morning.

Great job with your minute poem, Marijke. Sounds like you kept in good spirits even though your papa's timing was never good.

Excellent rhymes and a wonderful poem to read.
