On the day of judgement we will stand before Him and our deeds will be judged.

I think you have written a powerful and extremely thought provoking work Mikey.

I was truly impressed with the work written in red, because it sums up all that is so wrong in the world today.

Hate begets hate, Judging begets being judged.

While we cannot love every-body, we can treat them with respect, as we also wish to be treated.

Written without punctuation, in this case IMHO gave it much depth. as though it was a wave of enlightenment washing over. I cannot see anything that needs changing or editing.

Thanks for sharing.

I agree one hundred percent. I'm pleased you liked the format, no punctuation. It seemed the way to go, one continuous thought. Thanks so much. Love will prevail. mikey

Good artwork that complements your poem perfectly. This, these words had to be written. I can completely relate to what you wrote. Love, not hate and killing should rule the world.

Brilliant because I feel every word you write down to my bones. You have a gift of expressing strong emotions. It is horrible what happened in Orlando, so tragic. I do not know why people can't just let others be themselves peacefully.

Good write.

Wow. What wonderful words to hear, Nichola. I so agree with you. Geez, so true. Just leave everyone alone. No one is hurting anyone especially by expressing love. Thanks so much. mikey

I find the whole incident shocking and depressing. Makes me not want to go out. Senseless acts of violence which affect everyone, not only those involved. Thank you for writing your piece, Mikey

A six for you Mikey, not just because of what you say but how you say it.

'insinuate itself
and slither in' - love that

great imagery with the amphibian who creeps

good inline rhyme with defined/refined

You paint a vivid scene with the pitchforks stanza.

I love the poeticness (that should be a word:) of the first part and the rant of the second part.

You are a strong voice for all of diversity.

Love ya Mikey!

I'm so pleased you noticed, I DID try and make some poetry with this TOO. I was in the music forum listening to music and writing to it as someone suggested I do. I decided to post just in case someone might want to hear me blather. I'm pleased you enjoyed. I'm so delighted with your response. It's just love, I don't get what the problem is. People are crazy. Love ya back. mikey

The poem sounds like a leftist rhetoric, condemning the conservative point of view. Pointing out what is wrong in a belief that exempts some sectors from criticism is an expression of freedom and not hate. I find it absurd to espouse tolerance only to introduce a new kind of intolerance. This is my personal opinion and I won't impose my opinion on you. God bless.

I'm more than willing to hear whatever views you have. I'm intolerant of hatred and tolerant of love. Not sure what you're objecting to really. I find what happened in Florida deplorable and I find deriding people because they are different deplorable as well. Seeking to help them if one finds there lifestyle wrong may or may not be a good thing. I don't know. Well, no point, yes? Thanks for reading and your generous allotment of stars. mikey

A powerful work, Michael. Before I read your comments, I had music in my own head. The portion written in red I heard as performed to rap, however, not Enya! I think rap suits that section. (Of course, I am a rocker girl) I would not change a thing.

Hi, Renee, I'm a rocker from way back. It's a kick I dig Enya to be honest. Yeah, I hear the part in red as a rap too. The beginning was more Enya then I got angry. LOL I just started writing to music recently. A different experience. I like it. Check out the music forum here. I have a couple there I haven't posted. I posted this I guess 'cause I thought maybe people would relate. Anyway. A great review. Thanks a bunch. mikey

I liked how the power of your poetry made my heart speed up as I read it. I am not a poet therefore I can't tell you about meter or stanza length. I can tell you I felt your anger and frustration. This past weekend was full of bad news. It saddens me that life has little or no meaning to some. Every day is a gift. Great poem. Gretchen

We poets always cherish hearing such words, Gretchen. Honestly, I care much more about how it made you feel than I do about the meter and all that jazz. I'm pleased with your response. I agree, everyday is a gift and there's no reason not to celebrate love. Thanks so much, mikey

I've said it once and I'll say it again...
What happened in Orlando is a terrible and awful thing for much of what happened is bigotry and and hate. It was not the action of one who has the Truth nor faith; but rather of one who has just one god - that is the god of "self" and in making oneself our own god, it is also putting oneself on a throne of their own heart. A dangerous and hateful thing for it causes them to then believe it is they who have the right, nay the duty to pass judgement and execute punishment. Thank you for sharing this piece and for the deep thoughts of which it provokes in the reader.

Wow, Ginger. You have put it so concisely and perfectly. How very true, the god of 'self'. I'll be thinking about what you've said here for some time. I agree. Thanks so much for such an insightful review. mikey

A very well-written poem, if that doesn't open the eyes of the haters and change them, nothing will. The human race understands the act of love as only a sexual act or feeling. There is other's that are taught from childhood that hate and destruction are their purpose in life and everyone that does not feel the same as them must be killed and destroyed. If you are not one of them and believe what they do, you are marked to be destroyed.
