I think you could have made your point more strongly if you hadn't tried so hard to tone things down in the moderate examination of this site. I do think some more heartfelt emotion wouldn't have gone amiss...
That's how to make a point. We have to get the finger out and do something ourselves to improve the bits & pieces we ain't happy about. I think it's getting to put up or shut up time!
Good luck in the contest. If it's judged on passion, this ain't gonna get beat.

Well done.

I know an idealist on this site--his name rhymes with Ikey--who has a true and positive vision for this nether land. His aspirations are admirable. But I wonder if his frustrations cloud his sense of reality. Fight on, Prince, if that is your bent.
But if becoming a better writer is the goal. I suggest letting go of the tiger's tail, and writing better based on the input of the people on this site who you know you can trust.

Well, this time I knew even before I wrote this how futile it was. So, more of a cathartic experience to get it out of my system so I can get back to writing. Yeah, a little secret desire that it might do some good. But I do realize how unlikely it is.
I know your advice is the best advice. I follow it most of the time. I just need to shoot my big mouth off periodically. :))

It sure is one of the best foul-mouthed rants I've read on here...and that's not supposed to be an insult.
In answer to your first question, this site is a 'one man band' run from Tom's PC, and done very well within its constraints - firstly to make a good living for Tom, and secondly to give writers the chance to air their words in public.
Of course cheating goes on, as do cliques and favouritism - just like in any other community/walk of life. I've posted my fair share of comments on this, but nothing seems to change, so I guess we all weight up whether the positives beat the negatives, and we stay or leave based on our conclusions.
I've lost a lot of interest and inspiration due to one very popular member in particular who wins just about every contest he enters and creeps up every one's arses, pretending he's their best friend. This toe-rag is a compulsive liar who I used to consider a friend until I analysed all his lies.
BUT, this could happen with any so-called 'friendship', and its not exclusive to Fanstory, as there are con-men everywhere.
Anyway, I enjoyed your VERY up-front honesty, whether its largely right or wrong.
Sorry for any typos or my not making sense, as I haven't the patience to check my review or think about it further. ;-)

Yes, this is right off the top of my head and just what I'm thinking and feeling. I imagine it's a bit over the top and exaggerated. But sometimes that's the only way to get a point across. I agree, this isn't exclusive to here. You've got that nail hit right on the head.
All in all, some great people here and a couple I'd be loathe to live without. So, I expect I'll weather the storm. You, of course, aren't allowed to leave either. We need all the interesting exchanges we can get. We don't want to be bored to death for God's sake. LOL
