Mary, this was a very entertaining read. I laughed, teared up, waited in suspense, hoped ... thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful storytelling. There were some great illustrations like a blind person playing Twister. Loved 'These two sisters sprouted from the same tree trunk.' I immediately fell in love with your dog loving dad especially after finding out the real reason behind the delayed flight. The description of your aunt dancing was priceless.

Your author notes said you were trying a new word processing system. I'm not sure, but I think one extra word (the) may have snuck in on the sentence that begins 'While trying to suppress my the inner HE BROUGHT HOME A FAKE FOOOOKING TEDDY rage...'

I was sad the real Teddy was never found, but your last sentence was very heart warming and the perfect ending to this true tale. Excellent work! Sue P. :)

Shari (Spitfire) told me about you being new to the site and an excellent writer.
You do know how to turn a phrase. This post was so enjoyable. I could have read an entire book about your family, this being only one of may instances that I'm sure you could share.
Each of your characters is well presented--full and alive. Your dialogue is natural and your aside comments add humor, making each scene memorable.
Through Teddy's story, you let us see your family and how one small dog moved into the hearts of so many.
Thank you for sharing.

:) ellen

Thank you so very much, Ellen. Thank you for taking the time to read a longer submission, and your SIX STAR rating. I get giddy when those cross my screen. I was struggling with promoting this one and since it expires tomorrow, I was feeling a little weary of the site and the constant need to promote which is taking up more of my time and writing is getting pushed to the back seat :/ Thank heaven you and Shari, and Dawn came along to help! I appreciate you more than you know. I loved your review and would like to post it on my FBook page, if that would be alright with you. I can scratch your barking dog. My page was created to help me stay on top of writing and to develop followers. If you would prefer I not, that is fine too. I completely understand.

Your review came at a time I needed it, so I thank you for that. I love your FS moniker...barking dog...I have two big ones and the barking one broke a friends nose last week when she bent over to give him a smooch...I should consider the Teddy size dogs in the future!! :) Thank you again. So very appreciative!

As long as no one knows who wrote the review or where it came from you can use it. I'm really not anyone special though. And yes, scratch the 'barking dog'.

No worries, I won't use yours. I can sense unease. ☺

What a delightful read, Mary. As a writer, you're gifted. Especially loved the paragraph on feline phobia. (My cat has human phobia and hides when strangers enter the house)
The lobster story brought to mind the time when my ten year old son ordered lobster at a restaurant and thought he would get a live one from the tank! Disappointed. You bet.
Another great tale when the one-eyed imposter shows up.

Your metaphors and similes are fresh and had me chucking:
Teddy became the Spencer Tracy to her Katherine Hepburn ...

Teddy the Imposter, now secure in the good fortune of escaping Alcatraz,

So much more! I'm thrilled to find such an expert writer on FS. You make the site worthwhile.

Wow, Shari, thank you so much for this amazing review! Aside from getting me to All Time Best, which cost me a pretty penny to promote in funny money, your review made it all worthwhile. I was beginning to get disillusioned and you snapped me right out of it!

Would you mind if I posted it on my Facebook page? I will scratch out your Spitfire
reference. If not, that's okay, too.

Thank you so very much for your encouragement that came when I needed it most!

Post away. Use my real name if you wish (Sharilynn La May). Any publicity is good.
Don't be disillusioned. You're right up there with Captain Jack who doesn't post much anymore. He was number one a few years ago.

This was a delight from start to finish. I enjoyed it even at the expense of your Mum never finding Teddy again, let's just hope he was loved wherever he ended up. Little dogs like the Shih Tzu need all the love their new owners can give and then some more for good measure. Let's hope he got it. Didn't find any typos everything must be working correctly. Regards Mabaker

Awww...Your daughter and her puppy are just precious! Your story is too. Sweet Teddy seemed truly loved by everybody. I hate that you were never able to find him my though. Maybe he helped someone else get over a loss, and is still out there somewhere. Or maybe like you said, he's playing with your parents on "Rainbow Bridge". This was a great story and, no I don't believe I saw any extra characters.

Well done. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you very much, for the RR&R, and for your comments. That little girl is now nearly thirty and the photo was taken, with Teddy, on my parent's back patio many years ago.

It was a terrible time and my only hope was for his care and safety by the people who kept him. Thank you!

I love dogs, so I was a sucker for this story from the start. I love this memoir of Teddy one and Teddy 2. I even loved the digression of the lobsters (I too am a lobster virgin for the same reason. This is a well written piece with universal appeal.

Thank you so very much for your fantastic review, enitsalemap. I am happy to meet another lobster virgin!

If only I could banish pork and beef from my diet, I would extend the compassion to other deserving creatures.

    Thank you for your RR&R!

Mary
You possess extraordinary story writing ability. You should join the ranks of professional story tellers. You'd fit right in. (Near the top of the heap, no doubt.)
Another nice story_ well written and humorous.
Maybe there's a happier ending to this story that you'll never find out about.
