Okay, this is as perfect as the octogram gets. Excellent syllables, meter, and rhymes. Perfect repeating line that states the facts. I love the angry tone. I find we do our best work when we're either angry or not feeling our best. Why is that? I don't know. Just following a comment I read from Yoyo Ma the famous cellist. When asked when he played his best he responded when he was down the the flu. He didn't want to perform, but did anyway. He suggested our mind is sick so it's not fighting the process like it does when it's alert. Food for thought, says the old woman with extreme stage fright.

Okay, I have two nots that I am forced to point out.

1. Her name is Sally Yocom. I have been spelling it wrong myself and have recently scolded myself for it. Fifty lashes with a wet noodle.

2. Brooke drilled it into us students that it's, "I couldn't care less" otherwis you have plenty of room to continue to care less.

Okay, who's been dissing my friend? Bad form, says I.

So, if you want to know the truth of it - in murder investigations, things get bad when the investigator is getting close to discovering who the murderer is. So, yep, you're being dissed because your good works are being noticed and jealousy is rearing it's ugly head. Too bad they can't say bravo and move on.

If only they could see you from my eyes - a gentle friend, a poet that is quick to help a fellow poet, an awesome poet and musician, a leader in the poet and writing community, and on and on and on.

Can't wait t read your next octogram!

I only have a little room to care less. But there is a little room for me to care less. LOL
I changed Ms. Sally's name to the proper spelling.
So thrilled you liked this. It turns out, this isn't too difficult. It falls in pretty easy. YAY!
I'm not worried about the little gossips here, not when good friends like you have my back. I'm sure they're sitting in the dark reading this afraid to say a word. Thanks soooo much for your support. I appreciate it totally. mikey

Mike, these six stars are for how well you met the requirements for this poem, AND for the truth found within it. I don't know these people, and am glad I have not been approached by them. I guess it just proves that envy, jealousy, and evil can be found when two or more are gathered in one place. As apposed to that, the scripture says that Jesus said something like this, if two or more are gathered in my name, I will be there with them. I choose to join his group. Want to join me?

Amen. I'm right there with you. :))
How true that is. Two or more sure can gather for the wrong reasons. What a great point and we see it all around us even here. I'm not worried about these people. I did want them to see that the real people here come out in the light of day and have no difficulty at all saying what they think and signing their name to it. Wow. What a great review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this. Thanks for the support. Blessings, mikey

Hang in there, Mikey. Glad you spoke out. It gets the attention of the FS hierarchy, and causes others on this site to steer away from this group. Keep writing, I love reading your work.

Hi Mikey, oh brother! Gutless punks LOL. Good octogram style and good flow due to steady iambic meter. I not surprised by this revelation of pettiness on FS. It is nothing new here or beyond the site. However, it would be nice if people said it to our faces. Oscar Wilde said a true friend stabs you in the front.

Oh, they wouldn't dare face our crew that's for sure. LOL
I thought I'd make some noise and let them know, we do speak right out in the open with no problem at all. Perhaps they'll get the message. Thanks so much. I'm there for you anytime.

So sorry to hear this is happening, dear poor Mikey! You're such a sweet guy--and many here love you, including moi.

I've not heard anything about you, but then, it's likely I'm the brunt of such gossip as well (as I'd heard hints of that in the past...though others say they hear good things about me...so that counterbalances things.)

Your title drew my attention, and even though I've no extra time to review I decided I have to, because I support your speaking out frankly about the state of affairs. Indeed, this community of artists should ideally be respectful, supportive, friendly and fun...but in any crowd there will always be jealous, envious, spiteful, bitter people mixed in with the sincere and open ones. It's the way of life, I guess. People all evolve at thier own paces and all i can do it try not to judge...because if I knew the life story of any one of those gossips, I'd probably forgive them with a heart full of compassion because of the suffering that sculpted such hateful minds to blossom.

Anyway, your octogram is true to form, expressive, unique and very well rhymed.

I love the bouncy ironic upbeat tone of the opening lines. One suggestion (optional) is to use a dash after views so the rhythm is reflective of the previous lines:

Surprise, surprise! I'm in the news--
behind my back.
I'm topic 'A' of hidden views--
a sneak attack.

* suggestion:
but no(,) they wished me down below.

*
We were the closest of all crews,
a close knit pack.

Great alliteration of C but the words close and closest are...well, um...CLOSE! Maybe try a synonym for one of those? Perhaps tight-knit pack?

Poignant:

It was all lies; I've got the blues--
their cheap attack
astonished me; I must be blind.

Gutless shmucks indeed...well said! I feel sorry for them.

Love and healing hugs,
rd

Great tips, I done did them all. :))
I know you've been the subject of some whispers in your day. LOL
I suppose we can't blame them for being jealous now, can we? HAHAHAHA!! I knew that many would join me in speaking out in the light of day against those who speak in the shadows. I was not disappointed in the least. I'm not worried. There are many, many more here who just want to write and enjoy the great company we have here and the great people. A few people who live in the dark aren't going to stop that. Maybe they'll get the picture now. Thanks so much. Hugs back and love too.

Thanks for your gracious response, dear Mikey. Indeed, people who are spiteful, jealous, vindictive and shadowy create thier own living hell in thier hearts. I pray for such people to open up to generosity, joy, authenticity and selflessness.

    Hugs and Love,

Well writen Mikey. I know I have a habit of speaking my mind. One thing piece of advice I have taken to heart, don't say anything behind some-one's back that you would not say to their face. As a result my friends know where they stand.

Your very well written poem says it clearly.

We don't need people lke that around us.

If it is any consolation to you, something my mother used to say, "as long as they are talking about me, they are leaving some poor soul alone.

I hope these wrong doers read this and take it to heart. Those of us who care are with you.

Thanks for sharing

    Hi, Ann
It should be clear to those in the shadows by now, there are a whole bunch of us unafraid to speak out loud in the light of day. I'm not bothered in the least or surprised either. We'll just keep doing what we do and they can mumble in the shadows to their hearts content. LOL
Thanks so much, I have no doubts who I can count on and I hope there is no doubt you and everyone can count on me.

Mikey, I totally agree with this poem. Gossip is such an ugly thing. People who gossip are those who apparently don't have anything original to talk about. A good writer and a good artist will encourage others for Heaven's sake. Patricia

We're totally on the same page, Patricia. I can see that not one of the gossipers has a word to say in the light of day. Of course we knew that. Maybe they'll see just how many of us are ready to stand up against them and slink away back to the shadows. I hope so. Thanks so much as always for your great su photo signature_1 2_zpsxfbpz8q2.gifpport.

Told 'em off, by golly, and in an octogram. I don't know what you are talking about, and I guess that's good news. I have noticed some
wasp stingers and shoulder chips ill befitting those of our maturity.
But, hey, that's an excellent octogram.

Oh, just some jealous bitter gossips. Really a chance to try this form out. Hey, it's not as bad as I thought. I kind of like it. I see you wrote some top ones yourself. I've got to get caught up and stop by. Thanks a million. Not worried about these fools. photo signature_1 2_zpsxfbpz8q2.gif

Hi, Mikey

= OMG! I'm so sorry this has happened to you.
= Damn, to say I'm gobsmacked is an understatement.
= I don't understand why peeps think it's okay to stab others in the back--it serves no purpose.
= I had a person recently who muted me because I did NOT conform to his way of writing, and this was after I explained why I write as I do, at least 3 or 4 times, and that I had no plans to change.
= What makes other people believe they are better is far beyond me.
= Why we write the way we do is personal, and should NEVER be attacked.
= I personally believe it is these people who are jealous.
= Can't blame you for being upset, my friend.

There's always some stray idiots around. I'd thought I'd call them out and give em a chance to speak in the light of day. Well, not a word. My friends though, no problem with any of them speaking out loud and clear. Just what I figured. I'm fine. Not worried at all about a couple rats in the shadows.
    Thanks a million.

Get 'em Mikey! Since you're my friend, you just let me know who they are. Pettiness is something I try to avoid as those people tend to be fools and ignoramous. If they are talking about you, it's only because you are the better person/writer, and only by attempting to belittle others, do they feel like they are important. Petty, pathetic, panderers--that's what they are!
One error:
We were the closet of all crews,
Come on out of there :) hahah Love you lots!

Yeah, I thought I'd call them out and give them a chance to say a word or two in the open. But, shucks, not a word. I thought I might be cuter than they are. LOL
My friends seem willing to speak out in the light of day. HMMM. Maybe cause you all are awesome and they're worthless piles of crap. Love ya back. Thanks so much. I do mean that.

WTF! Who? What? You are one of the nicest persons on this site. Who is causing you grief? I will kick some gossiping-cowards' ass.

I understand how you feel. I don't care if total strangers don't like me but when a friend betrays me ... that really hurts and it has happened to me more than once around here.

You are freaking awesome, as an author and as a friend so F@@@ THEM ALL who gossip about you.

Keep your chin up, darling, you rock!

Good for you, I like your octogram and telling those xxx off.
