LOL receiving flies and insects too...loved it.
Very descriptive and yet it flows so nicely and easily.
A very good response to a challenge. I love actostics when done right. Your rhymed and made it special

I just couldn't think of anything to write about a spiders web, Barb, in the end I thought I'd try an acrostic, at least I had the first letter all ready for me. The 'R' was the hardest, lol, and that was all I could come up with! Thanks for your lovely review, my friend, so glad you liked it. :) Sandra xxx

Thanks for the notes, Sandra, but I couldn't be bothered to check out the other FIFTY. LOL.

Far superior than the average acrostic with rhyme, meter, and a continuous story rather than a 'shopping list'.

Just one tiny glitch in last line's iambic meter (which you have elsewhere), as you start with an emphasised syllable, but that's not a hanging offence. ;-)

Very clever and entertaining.

Cheers, Ray xx

LOL, I thought you would enjoy a bit of bedtime reading, Ray! Thanks for the lovely review, and that flaming last line, damn! I didn't spot that. LOL, love your review, my friend, thank you! :) Sandra xxx

I used to be part of the Picture This challenge group. It grew too big for me. When we started it was just a few poets, I liked it better.

Your take on the picture is awesome and different from all the other picture this entries. Good job sweetie pie.

It keeps growing, then some leave, but not all post. I don't think I could keep up with the 50+ on the group! Thank you for the lovely compliment on my take, Gypsy, that was so sweet of you. :) Sandra xxx

A very bright and uplifting tribute to those little quick movers that seem to defy broom whisks. Loved your presentation format and the empathy contained toward these useful little creatures.

Thank you so much, Mary, they frighten the life out of me, but I would rather have them than the flies. :) Sandra

Sandra,
Your acrostic for the challenge poem is great. I love the colored first letter of each line, the ending rhyme, and the educational take.

I know spiders are helpful as you wrote, but they are so scary.

Good job and thanks for sharing. Jan

I'm with you on the scary, Jan!! I had trouble coming up with a poem for this one, unlike you, I found it really hard. The acrostic was a cheaters way, really. I had the first letter all ready done for me! LOL! Have you looked in the contests today? There is one about me! What would anyone want to write about me for? LOL. I thought about writing one, but thought the judges would think I am biased!!! Thanks again, my friend. xsx Sandra

    Sandra,
Your poem was a fun take. I don't believe acrostics are that easy especially if you add in rhyme. I don't like spiders AT ALL. I could not think of anything to write until I looked up about the spider web. Then, I thought of that song. As for the contest, I would think that the sponsor would have to get permission from the person it is to be about FIRST. This is the 3rd or 4th one from the same sponsor. Jan

I told her I didn't think anyone would want to write about me, why on earth would they. There are so many REAL talents on here, I am still learning. If I was that good, I'd be rich by now. LOL. Hmmm, I can dream though. I have had some fun reviews on this one. Panygynt told me he in inundated with flies in the summer, he lives by a farm! So the webs aren't doing their jobs. :)

I join your club, Sandra--the one that admires spiders, but finds them icky, too.
Webs are wonderful constructions. I used to work at an ad agency housed in an old grist mill. Every morning, I'd have to walk across covered bridge to get to my office. The webs between the roof joists were frozen lace every winter morning.
Intricate, and delicate. Works of art only waiting for the sun to erase.

I did not know spiders eat their webs. this is something to ponder.

Great job.

Peace, Lee

I learnt about the spiders eating their webs when I wrote the children's ABC book, they are amazing creatures. And, I do think they are master craftsmen, their webs are so intricate and beautiful. When the sun catches them, they are like threads of silver studded with diamonds. I can well imagine how lovely they are when frozen. I'm so pleased I was able to teach you something!! Thank you so much for the lovely 6 stars, my friend, you are wonderful. I haven't written much in the way of poetry for a while, I've been practicing writing a story. I tell you something, I admire you for the ease in which you write long ones, I have found it hard going! Thanks again, dear Lee. I hope you are 100% recovered now? Sandra xxxx

Oh, I'm fine. There are some things that slow us down in general. And sometimes, the cost of fighting doesn't pay freight. Not to worry.

I love to write. And the more I love a story, the longer I want to write it--until. Yup. Until. Until it weighs more than me. Until it feels like a chore to lug it around all the time. Until I come to a grand new idea I absolutely, positively, need to pursue--NOW!

Welcome to the club, dear Sandra.

But remember this, writing is for the joy of it. Never let it turn into a job.
    Write because it feels good.

I have enjoyed it, but I've found it nerve wracking to post. Poetry being my 'thing' mostly and short stories, but I thought it was time to try and join the big boys! I have other ideas forming in my head, I will wait and see what happens before I think of putting them on here. I didn't really like your response to my question of your health. You are younger than me, so you are still a spring chicken, or cock, in you case! (I meant that you are a boy! lol) xxx

Rhyming acrostic on the theme. They don't mind here if you are late just get upset when you're too early. I wonder what the spider population outside my house amounts to. On a bright dew-spangled morning in September or October the whole field is covered with them. There must be an awful lot of flies to support them all, but then there are because there are an awfull lot of sheep dropping their droppings on the field. Isn't nature thoughtful like that? Lol.

An excellent interpretation Sandra, I'm always late in the challenge, don't worry, nicely structures acrostic. Apparently spiders take care of 80% of the world's pests, without them we'd be over run by them, clever girl, well done. Blessings, Roy

Thank you, Roy. When I wrote the children's ABC book, I learnt about them, and although I am not their biggest fan, I am glad we have them! Rather them than more flies. Thanks again, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

I can sympathise with her. They really scare the life out of me too. I wonder why so many people are frightened of them, they are only little things compared to us, yet we are. :)

I'm the go to guy for taking care of them.

Sandra, I really like this acrostic. I have read several of the other
picture this challenge. They are definitely master craftsmen.
That's interesting that they eat their webs up and start again.
