Excellent

This is the way to start of a story. You feed the reader bits and pieces, but a hint here and there and let the reader not only become curious, but come up with their own conclusion of what might be going on. Strong, grab them beginning. I'm looking for to part two.

Very intriguing!! You've given just enough information to create the mystery and int at the earlier conflict, but leaving the reader wanting more! One small comment: in the first paragraph regarding Marjory, the second last line "...in so far as it was ..." you missed the word "as". Not a big deal but interrupts the flow. Can't wait for the next installment!

You can not make old friends as the saying goes.

And, some times the old friendships fade away as people change with time.

When you have not seen each other for extended periods you do not know exactly what to expect.

Oh boy! Can't wait for the next instalment. As Audrey stated 'the scene is set'. My mind is working overtime trying to guess what is going to happen. I loved the way that the reader gets to know ach person individually before finding out what they were like as a group in their earlier years. You have set it up so brilliantly. Hope the next instalment won't be too long before it appears. Well done. As you can probably guess - I really enjoyed reading this.

so in the event that the post stamp could actually be read, it wouldn't disclose her true whereabouts. (my that piques the curiosity.) But that is not all, the whole thing makes me wonder what she is up to. As an interesting side note: we have a daughter, Audrey, although she is not yet forty-five, she has lush auburn hair.

I am looking forward to following your book. This first chapter sets up your storyline perfectly.

It will be interesting to see how these three women greet each other. Audrey, Marjory, and Susan has history from years before. I am interested in what happened to them and their friendship.

Well written with what I call inner dialogue with each woman. Your storyline sets up your next chapter with much curiosity. Looking forward to it.
