There comes a time when death is imminent and this is the case in this very short story. The inspiration here is that Rosie knew what would give Harold comfort in his final time on earth and used her abilities to bring Frankie to Harold. She respected Harold's need to be in control of his life even at its end and brought Frankie to be his companion to the end.

Excellent

Animals seem to know when someone is sick. I had a friend who had to go to the hospital. Her dog went into a corner of the house, lay down facing the corner and refused to eat or drink anything. The person who was caring for the dog finally carried him out to her car and took him to the hospital. As soon as the dog got there, he curled up on the bed next to his owner. From that time on, he was okay. Both dog and owner got better.

That's the thing about nurses. They'd do it every time,
if they knew what IT was, and if they were allowed.
I might have changed Harold to Johnny--you know, Frankie and Johnny?
but then, I'm a romantic.
Harold and Frankie deserve this time together.
And the nurse deserves a raise.
