Beautiful words and beautiful image. It's a wonderful matter that flowers in the world today can transport us back to our childhood memories. I had a lilac outside my bedroom window and there were photinia down by the public swimming pool. Both those smells make me smile and feel the happy moments of long ago. Thank you!

I love the scent of magnolias! Good job. Fine haiku. Poignant satori line. Superb alliteration o F and S and M, making this phonetically resonant. Fine flow too. My only suggestion (optional) is to replace the word the with something descriptive.

I love the scent of magnolias! Good job. Fine haiku. Poignant satori line. Superb alliteration o F and S and M, making this phonetically resonant. Fine flow too. My only suggestion (optional) is to replace the word the with something descriptive.

Oh well if that is what Merriam Webster says let us hope for your sake that the judges are prepared to go along with that. Apart from that little trip into the grey area of pronunciation this is a fine 5-7-5. I have one of these in my garden and it has just finished flowering. Eleven months is a long time to have to wait.
