Hi, Shari,

I can see I've missed so much in this family journal. But, your writing skill is such I am able to recall things from prior chapters. I like how you create the linkages to prior comments.

The saga continues and I enjoyed reading this very much. Your comments about Jeff made me laugh as well as wince. The writing comes across as sincere and from the heart.

I found no SPAGS.

Well done, my friend.
Ray

It's probably just me, but it seems as if it's been awhile since I've read a chapter in this ongoing family drama, Shari. So, needles to say, I was delighting when I spied it sitting there in my inbox.

Another Jeff Koch already existed. 'Max' became his alter ego. A gangster's name to me. Someone in the Mafia. It made sense. The Godfather movie beat out Jackass. ...Really, Shari? Max...Koch??!?? Please, correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't "Koch" pronounced exactly the same as Cock, as in Cock of the walk? "Cause if I'm right (and I believe I am), his stage name is Max ... Cock. Bwa-hah-hah-ha-ha-ha-a-a-aaaa...!!! It sounds like a freakin' porn star's name from the 70's. And none of you--not a single, solitary one--got that?
Oh, woe is me...

Well, I thought, he did prey on you, my dear. ... Haha. Great jab there, Spit. Touche'...

Nichole never mentioned this gig. Jeff told me when I e-mailed recently to research material for this chapter. I asked, "Which episode features you in the lead?" His answer included the news about the Super Bowl. The next time I called my daughter, I chewed her out. ... That's not a good sign that everything in a marriage is all honkey-dorey. A wife, not bragging to her mom on how proud she is of her husband's success? Nope, not a good sign at all. My guess is that Maxx Cock (ahem) was doing the kind of work that Nichole, your daughter, loved to do and probably felt she should be doing.
Call it a hunch...

So, there seems to be more turbulent waters ahead on the horizon, and no signs of letting up.

Great writing, Shari, as always.

Maxx Cock...heh-heh, that's rich!

Jeff makes sure on his You Tube posts to point out his last name is pronounced "Cook" I thought it sounded out as Kotch and rhymed with crotch. LOL. After she married him, Nichole kept her maiden name for professional use. Who would blame her!

You could be right about bragging. I never thought about that.

Yes, it's been a long time between posts. Had a lot going on for a couple weeks including--guess what- a reunion with my daughter ( and Jeff of course). He's much improved. Thanks so much for waiting for Sunday. l always giggle at your comments.

You have a forgiving and philisopical heart. It is hard to watch you daughter being taken advantage of, and yet she doesn't seem to mind. At least her hubby is finally bring in some of th bacon. He was lucky to find her.

You narrative voice moves the story forward well. It comes across as honest. The protective mother and the wisdom of acceptance weave together to give the people in the story depth and character. It captivates like a good novel.

I'm glad to hear reviewers comment on the honesty. Wish I had a better memory of conversation though. A wise man said to me recently: Remember it's her choice. That's good to remember.
Thanks so much for your great review and the six.

At least the relationship with your daughter and son-in-law is mending, and I say that loosely in referring to Jeff. But let's give a man his due, he's trying. Good thing, I mean really good thing, Nicole has a steady job otherwise ... well there's no telling when it comes to love.
Well done.

My daughter worked for a waitress for years while hoping for her big break. But she couldn't take the rejections so when the boss at her restaurant noticed her management skills, he offered her a job in an office which eventually to her recognition and the top CEO promoted her to Vice President of Human Relations. For the most part, she loves it, but still takes acting lessons.

He may have been making money, but still sounds like a creep. When I started earning more than my husband (now ex), he was very offended and upset at me! After that, I just never told him how much I made or if I get a raise. Something I should have been proud of, I had to hide from him. I was making about 3 times what he was for many years. The last five years I worked, it was way more than that (he was an ex by then). On SSDI, I get about a fourth of what I made working. That was culture shock for sure. A well written chapter, my friend~Debbie

Sounds as if he was insecure. Too bad he couldn't be happy for you. My husband is pleased that my retirement check is three times his. But he's been working longer so his SS is a tad higher. I invested a lot of my paycheck in annuities, so life would be easier in old age. Thanks for sharing y our story.
Hope you have good health insurance. That helps us big time.

A very interesting and well written story and it sounds like Jeff has talent. I would think the world of acting is a hard field to break into. Your story holds one's interest andI look forward to the next episode. I had to look up the word "scatological".You have a great vocabulary to come up with such a truly descriptive word. I can see why you have "recognized" on this chapter.

Ooh, I'm thrilled to get a six so late in the week. An acting career often depends on being in the right place at the right time. Knowing a big shot in the industry helps. LOL I learned that word from my Mom who hated Red Skelton because of his jokes in that area.

One of your best "Blood" chapters, Shari, and I see its main strengths as voice and variety. These things mix here to achieve a style that is very interesting and readable.

I think you ease the tension in the series with this acknowledgment of Jeff's success. You have built that tension so realistically in previous episodes that even the reader experiences a certain relief.

Maybe take a quick look at Paragraphs 4 and 5 for small edits: Los Angeles and protect.

Super video! How great to hear the skillful voicing of Mantis.

Thanks for the edits and mentioning the video. I like the remark about easing the tension. Hadn't thought of that. So pleased by the exceptional review and your insight on this.

What was his grandfather's life about? Must have been interesting. I am impressed with his credits. Gotta give credit where it is due.
Also, it takes talent to mimic voices.

I am always impressed with your ability to be self objective. That comes from your spiritual nature.

This is another interesting chapter, Shari. Hugs, Lou

His grandfather was a boring skinny old man who lived in a beat-up trailer with his fat wife.
Appreciate the comment of my spiritual nature. Guess it didn't show in my remark about Gramps. The film was not memorable, but I'm sure it made both of them happy.

LOL - In today's world of reality T.V., that might have been a hit.

This is such a fascinating read. Your excitement at your daughters excitement revealed just how much you love her and how important her happiness is still to you.

It seems she feels the same about you. For she too will have had her doubts about her man at times, I'm sure.

She even rationalises that all is well as you had become the breadwinner for your family for while too. This seems to help her get through.

You have raised a beautiful intelligent daughter and supported her despite misgivings about her beau, he may still be a good 'un in the end.

Your honesty has such impact when delivered with your able pen, I am saddened I have no sixes for this is certainly what this chapter deserves.

Hugs
