Love the intro paragraph. You go girl!

That 'depending on you' bit is a requirement for loving unconditionally ... as people are never perfect.

Give me Fritos and a can of Bush's Country Style Baked Beans ... or a bag of Brach's Chocolate Peanut Clusters ...

I think the 'eating/thinking bit' is the reason there is always an after-funeral 'feeding' of the mourners (at least this was customary with my family and friends).

Hey - I have no problem with the apocalypse as I'm not sure if I'm a pre-millennialist, mid-millennialist, or post-millennialist. I'm prepared with the beans and the corn chips for any case.

Sorry about the 'friends' passings.' I'm sixty-five and me and my cohorts are dropping like flies.
Death. A fact of life.

God bless and my best,

Relda

Good stress or bad stress, you can find me downing some variation of comfort food. And I'm a comfort food snob. (AHEM!!!!!)

I completely understand. I am the same way.

This is a great essay, Gretchen. I really enjoyed this writing about an outlook on life. I too, am a "you get what you get" kind of gal. It sounds like you had a difficult week--glad the naps provided some comfort and while you found some perspective.
Thanks for sharing this, Chris

It sounds like you have had a rough time lately with losing so many friends at one time. I can identify with being a stress eater because I do the same thing and as a result I am obese. But one day I hope to lose all this excess weight. Lord willing. I hope and pray that things get better for you. I can't imagine losing so many friends in such a short period of time. May God bless you and comfort you. Great read and keep on writing, it is good for the soul.

Well, to me dear, it sounds like your attitude is a good one. "Different Strokes for Different Folks," as the saying goes. And I say, "Whatever works." If nabs do the trick? Why not. They relieve the pain as much as crying, I'm sure. Jumping off a bridge never helps, only adds to someone else misery. So, I might just stock up on nabs and try it myself. It can't hurt. Thanks for sharing your fine post. :-)

I like it. When someone dies I clean and eat comfort food. I have no idea what nabs are. I always like Goldfish and Cheese it's, but I'm not a junk food junkie. In fact I hardly eat anything but fish, chicken and fruits and veggies now. Don't care for fried food at all. Don't like fat. LOL This is a good essay Gretchen.

I think you've run this idea of the usefulness of nabs through its paces and made it understandable. Anyone who has been hungry or anxious and has met those situations with the crunchy, sustaining, delicious taste and textural experience of a cheese cracker can attest to their importance.

I believe "Nabs" are a Canadian treat. I haven't seen them in the US. "Cheese Nips?" Something like that, but not "Nabs" by themselves.

Accepting someone's death is hard to swallow. Nabs are not hard to swallow. [I like the way one sentence plays off the other.]

Good mini-essay.

I'm not sure what nabs are, a sort of savoury edible or other Gretchen, I think. Yes, as one gets older one suffers grief, loss of friends through death, loss of mums and dads, my brother passed away a couple of months ago, sadness pervades. Well written, I always enjoy biographies, or, in this case excerpts from one's day to day lives, thanks for sharing, in a sense your allowing us into your presence, and that is always a privilege, blessings, my friend, Roy

Thank you so much for the nice review. Nabs are square crackers with either cheese or peanut butter sandwiched in between. Delicious but not high on nutrition. Lol. Thanks, Gretchen
