Right, I am up to date, wow, what a story! Now I've just read the 6 pages, and already read the 7th, I will be wanting the rest of the story is quick succession. That is the way I am, sorry, Ulla, but when I like a story, I am a very demanding reader, lol, ask Alexis and Phyllis!! I am loving this one, and can't wait to read what happens when your Lawyer meets up with your adoptive mother's. And I can't wait until you describe his face when he sees your smug one! LOL!! xsx Sandra

Lol, mine would have been a double too! How fortunate it is that you had used this impressive woman before. With the wrong lawyer, it could be a waste of time. I can't wait to hear what happened next. This was written beautifully, Ulla, and I couldn't find anything to suggest. This last week has been really busy, not helped by me having a cold/flu! Hopefully we can catch up soon.

Hugs from France,

Nice work, Ulla. I have been following this story line, and it is progressing nicely. It seems as though Mrs. Faber will do everything she can. Loved the last line: Gin and tonic and make it a double. You definitely deserved that, lol.

Take care,
Russell

Hi Ulla, well it's about time you had some luck, I reckon your Barrister is going to sort this out for you, I am still enthralled by your story, with the dodgy people it reads like a crime story my friend.

This is great, and I didn't find a single typo. Did I miss something, or why was there such a breach between you and your adoptive mother? I think it was the difficulty of the case that sold Mrs. Faber on it. Am I right?

Well the rift between my adoptive mother and me is touched on at the beginning of the my story. She took it on because she could see the other lawyer was trying to brake the inheritance law. He would have gone away with it had I not been advised of my adoptive mother's death. I wouldn't have known what was going on. It was fate if you wish. It's all explained in previous chapters. All the best. Ulla:)))

A double gin and tonic indeed. What a day! Thank goodness the lawyer took your case. You were smart to get all the paperwork you got. One spag:
lawyer she seemed to have been in cohorts with would go to any length to make sure I
Rather than'cohorts', the word you want is 'cahoots'.

Hi Sheryl, Thanks a lot for this great review. Several have advised me to change to cahoots, so I've done so. All the best. Ulla:)))

I haven't read this part of your bio before. I've followed the book about meeting your real parents. So, at first my impression was that you must have had differences with your adoptive mother as you seemed underwhelmed at attending the funeral. Of course, it becomes clear this was the case when you are dealing with the lawyer. The lawyer seems an impressive type and you did well to meet her. Your ending sets up the reader for an interested next chapter as you leave the inheritance question up in the air. BY golly, you are and were and international citizen. As I read, I realised how easy your writing style is to engage with. Very clear and smooth in its delivery. I noted one passage which I thought was terrific, a description, something I'm poor at, so I look for it in other writers: Mrs Faber was an intimidating woman at the best of times. Her salt and pepper hair was tied back in a tight bun that, combined with the dark suit, emphasised the impression of severe authority. I gathered it was her power look, reserved for the court.
You've used the expression 'in cohorts with' wrongly in the text. It's a strange English idiom that sounds remarkably like that and is very close in meaning. I've taken the liberty to cut and paste a section from Wiktionary to show you what I mean.
have been in cohorts with ...the expression is 'have been in cahoots with'
in cahoots (with someone)
in cahoots with: in conspiracy with someone; in league with someone. The mayor is in cahoots with the construction company that got the contract for the new building. Those two have been in cahoots before.
Really enjoyed your story.

Thank you so much . I am so pleased that you liked this and for your great review. Yes, this is another part of my life and I will soon finish it. I have changed into 'cahoots. The 'Quest' about finding my natural parents is still not finished. I'll come back to that. All the best. Ulla:)

I hope this woman turns out to be as helpful as this implies she will be. What a stressful time this must have been. Once you have finished this book, you should writ the whole story of your childhood with this woman. There are many adoptive children that would discover they are not alone in their unhappy placement.
