Well written and entertaining Mikey. Although I am not an avid fan of basket ball, I do enjoy watching it.

Your play by play commentary was fun to read, and I could almost imagine I was right there watching it. Although I would doubt that I would have been jumping up and down like you. The only sport that still has me doing that even to this day (even as old as I am) is rugby, and then only if Wales is playing, and winning.

Thanks for sharing those exciting moments with us. I enjoyed the way you brought the reader along with you.

Thanks so much, Ann. Rugby looks like the best fun to watch. You know the thrill then when it's your HOME team! Wow, was this ever fun to write knowing that every word of it was true. I don't do much jumping up and down these days, but THIS called for it. LOL mikey

Here's a sixer for you Mikey! What can I say...I'm a sport's fanatic and You did a superb job with this play by play action. It took me back to the glory days of Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan. I'm sure Kobe will join them as one of the greats of all time. :-)

I couldn't believe it as I watched it. I too remember those days and even a bit further back with West, Baylor and Chamberlain etc. Yep, he's in the club for certain. Thanks so much. Truly a blast to write. :)) mikey

Well no wonder Kobe got so many shots in the basket. By the looks of the picture it's not even very far over his head. ;-)

This milestone and historic event in the life of Kobe is practically ALL about ME! YES, don't you just love it when things turn out that way? You have such a positive attitude Mikey. I think it's one of your finer attributes and with Kobe on your side who can lose?

Love the conversational style of your write. I felt I was right there with you, shouting MORE!

I love a happy ending and this is indeed a happy ending. It must be so tense knowing it could go either way though.

A brilliant piece all around my dear and I love it!

I'm not one to get all jazzed over these types of things, concerts, sporting events etc. It takes Bette Midler OR something off the charts like this to get me going. This was amazing to see. If it wasn't true this story would be absurd. I'm so pleased I got away with blathering a bunch of opening tangents and then just pouring out the way I saw it and felt it. I really am happy you liked this. Thanks. :)) mikey

Awesome, GO Lakers!!! Amazing sports reporting, improved by tangents (I'm not a big sports fan) and yes it is practically ALL about you. I mean, these sports guys aren't heroes without their fans, are they? Nope! What a great exit, seriously - this guy rocks (yes, I mean you...and Kobe too, I guess). Didn't he write a long ode to basketball? He's one of us!
Loved this :)

Yes. His next endeavor is STORY TELLING. For real. He's into it. This was a great deal of fun to write. He went out as I told him to and gave me something to write about. Piece of cake.
Thanks for mentioning my lovely tangents. LOL No one paid any attention. Ha! mikey

Hello, Mike :)

Let me begin by saying that I hate sports. But we are friends so I made myself read your sports commentary. Boy was I lucky!

Kobe Bryant, of course I've heard of him. He is an amazing player, or so I heard. But I didn't know he was retiring, or how awesome he is.

You made sports fun and exciting, and that coming from a gypsy like me it's saying a lot.

I like the ending the best.. ......Jordan Clarkson near the opponent's basket. It looks as though Kobe is just throwing the ball away as he heaves it down the court. It lands right in the hands of Clarkson who slams it into the basket sealing the victory. *****The outgoing leader has passed the torch to the next generation.**** I particularly like this line. This is a HUGE deal! I had no clue it was such a historical event. I am not a fan, but I think had I been there watching the game I would be in tears of joy and awe for the man. The black mamba.

I could not tell if it was all your fantasy or history, so I checked, and sure enough, it is all true!

You could get a job as a 'sports game announcer'. You are very good at describing what is going on on the court. Good job! "My Irish Sports Announcer Who Has Fantasies About the Black Mamba But Is Not Gay and Converts Spanish Gypsies Nonbelievers to Lakers' Fans."

    Wow. Love my title. LOL
I'm not one to jump up and down over sports either to be honest. But this, yep, pretty exciting. I let Kobe do all the work and I just wrote it down. It was pretty awesome. It was beyond sports and just became humanity at its best. Inspiring. Thanks so much, Gypsy Didn't Think She Liked Basketball Until Straight Mikey Laid the Smackdown on Kobe's Final Game Queen, mikey Irish Hugs in those basketball tights. LOL

Michael, I am a Lakers fan and love your story. Kobe is an amazing story. I don't have a TV so didn't see the game, but I would have been cheering too, if I had been watching. Patricia

This is so exciting and well written that I was sitting on the edge of my seat as I read it. At first I thought it was auspicious, but that stands corrected :) Great writing Mikey! Keep 'em coming!
