This is a great entry into the contest. Believe it or not, a lot of small towns here in Oklahoma still do visit with their districts this way. I like the way you made the reading audience think about things. Great job. Best of luck to you in the contest, Shirley

You write so well that it's always a joy to read everything you post, and this political flash fiction entry is no exception. Great job, and good luck in the contest. :-)

This has good dialogue...very natural. It's a different world from my political experience,so interesting to hear how your American candidates manage their campaigns. I also admire your point of view...there are good honourable, sincere candidates. One must only listen to find them.

I thought this was a good story, and it held my interest throughout. I only found one item for your consideration.

"The man's sincere," I thought.' My suggestion is to eliminate the quotation marks as this is a thought rather than speech. I use two different methods. The other is italics for thoughts.

You writing is very clean and a pleasure to read. Thank you.

Take care,
Russell

Thank yous so much for your very kind praise of this story, Russell. Usually, I use the site's advanced editor when I post stories, but this time I did not. You are right. The more accepted way to express thought(s) is italics, unavailable on FS's regular processor. Rod

It's nice to see an uplifting story about politics. During this time of a heated election, it's refreshing not to see mud-slinging and trash-dumping on other candidates.

I liked your story. It was well written and easy to read. Readers love that.

Keep creating,
Authorsue

Unfortunately the winner is often the loudest, biggest spender who slings mud with ease, or, like your characters, has great qualifications-on paper.
Good flow, dialog, well-done characters...excellent.

I like this. It's nice. I like that door to door, homestyle, or did I mean neighbourly approach. So the one you met, did he get in? I'm hoping your country will make a wise, thoughtful decision who becomes president. That decision affects so much of the world.

This flash fiction is well written. The dialog is smooth and realistic. The descriptions of the characters give the read a clear picture without over-writing. The setting is well described and the author's opinion is woven throughout in regard to the theme of school board election.

I enjoyed this s very much! To meet a candidate for any office in such a personal one-on-one setting is rare these days. Also enjoyed your author comments. If more people took advantage of the possibility for improvement on the local level, it might have a positive ripple effect on other levels.

/wonderful soft tone with a thoughtful message and a perspective often lost in all the noise in the current election. Rod, your poetry is always amazing, but when you read prose I am caught up with your style and message--every time.
