I surely can relate to where your friend is at in her life.
I think you did a fantabulous job of interpreting her
place now and "try" at true freedom in her later years.
Your poem flows well and rhymes are unforced.

I think we do all want to break out at times. E build our roles and then get trapped into them. Not always bad, but there is always the lure of being more free than we are.

I think we do all want to break out at times. E build our roles and then get trapped into them. Not always bad, but there is always the lure of being more free than we are.
