Sis CAT, I admire each and every poet you have mentioned here, but somehow, with your talent find it hard to believe you needed edits. You are truly a gifted artist. There are some phenomenal poetry on our Eartrh floating around her. My son has his masters in conservation. He has graced me with much knowledge and literature on the subjects. Please read Rachel Carson's Silent Spring and Aldo Leopold, The Sans County Almanac. Both early 20th century environmentalist and conservationist as well as word artist. Eye opening books! beautiful work of yours. Thamk you for sharing.. Jimi

Thank you, Jimi, for your review. The other poets in the workshop provided small edits which made a big difference. The biggest one was that my original line was "every evergreen brown." Teresa (TAB that's Me) suggested that I push the line further by writing "every evergreen now everbrown." I accepted her idea. This was the most talked about line in my poem because it conveyed my message starkly and clearly.
I have added Silent Spring and The Sand County Almanac to my reading list.

That's okay. Many reviewers said that. By the time of the books official release on Tuesday, many reviewers had already used up their sixes for the week. I am glad I received what I did and that my poem touched many people. Thanks.

You raise an excellent issue about these beetles in a poignant poetic portrait of the impact the bark beetle has on devastating our forrests. The use of the senses was a very clever concept. This Free Verse poem flowed with each stanza building on the next, very well done. Your notes are equally enlightening.

Thing is, our folly will not destroy the planet - the planet will go on in some form or another. But we are destroying - or altering - the incredibly fragile balance of life, as your beautiful poem indicates. Which in turn will lead to our demise and the demise of other life forms as a result.
Blue coffins - a unique subject and a powerful image.
I'm honoured to have my name with yours and the other poets in this group. Too bad, though, that we are taking our inspiration from such tragedy.

I wasn't aware of this insect infestation. We had something similar with a certain kind of borer wasp in pine plantations a while back, but I think it is now under control.

This is some scary stuff. You're poem was a haunting reminder of how the natural world is fragile and very hinged on our man made world. Good strong rhythm and a natural meter that made reading easy and we'll paced. Thank you for the author notes. There is a disease that is killing off the dogwood trees along the east coast. Reviewers from Canada, England, Spain, and throughout the United States told me that their trees are dying fungus, beetles, or both. Now I add the dogwood trees of the East Coast to this sad, growing list. I am glad you also noted the "Good strong rhythm and a natural meter." Thanks.
