I think I need a glossary here, too. What's a "Thankster?" I did like all your other rhymes with it: gangster, prankster and angst here! I guess this took place during the Prohibition days. That sure didn't work. Fun rhymes and rhythm!

Thankster, in this context, is a Thompson submachine gun.

What in the heck is wrong with a people who would outlaw the one thing that gets us up and keeps us going. A nation that cannot relieve the tension with a good stiff drink is a nation that is troubled.

This was a pretty good and entertaining poem. What is the advantage of bringing a poem out of retirement? It would have been cool with an old school gangster picture.

I am reviewing and revising poems and stories for publication.

Some most innovative rhymes in your delightful poem, Bill. My thinking is angst here and thankster and gangster need to go down in the annals of most unique rhymsters ever.
Great job and as always a fun read. :)

Hi Bill. This is a well written and rhymed poem with the first three lines of each stanza rhyming and the last line rhyming with all last lines. A throwback to prohibition days and bathtub gin. Marilyn

Interesting reference to Prohibition. Makes me think of the hit show "The Untouchables." I read a mystery series that featured Eleanor Roosevelt playing amateur sleuth. On episode has her wearing a disguise and going to a speakeasy following up on a lead. Funny to think of Eleanor in that capacity. Excellent job with your rhyme and flow, and the addition of fun words like "Thankster." judi

Hahahaha, Bill, love this one. A great light hearted poem about the times of the prohibition and when gangsters were still the rule of the day. Wonderful rhyming. You are so god at those fun poems. All the best. Ulla:))

I'm glad you revived this post--it's a catchy poem with unique, colorful imagery, and like most off your writing, it put a smile on my face. Keep up the good work!

I really enjoy these wacky, silly poems from your "People" series and book, Bill.
Phenomenal flow, uniquely unusual, and written out of the proverbial box.
Novelly nonsensical, they're just a lot of fun to read.

Thanks, Dean, for taking a look. I wanted to run them up again since many previous reviewers are gone. Many are still here though, so I don't think they would be able to respond to the massaged post. Hope your holiday was great. Bill

I hope the same goes for you.
As always it was my pleasure.
