Yes, yes, these challenges seem to bring out the best in all of you fine lovers of verse, and the reward goes to us lucky readers who get to enjoy the magical melodies of your words. Great job. :-)

Hi Sandra, I love your take on this Picture This challenge. A very unique and clever piece with good abab rhyme. Good rhythm and flow.

Sandra, You did good on putting a poem with this picture.
Yes, those cats squalling sure can mess up the music.
I think the birds would make a beautiful addition though.

I had to laugh at your last 2 lines. I love cats, but they can make an awful din. Good job on the challenge poem. I like your musical take with it. Good use of alliteration, too. Thanks for sharing.

I liked this picture this prompt Sandra, the them of the artwork is memorable as I used to do this when young, I can't remember girls doing it, but then, why not! Beautifully written, Sandra, the reading tempo is so easy, the Kirkcaldy quality of the language is great, the fact that you mention the musical theme is great, well done, blessings, Roy

Thank you, Roy, I'm glad you enjoyed it. My brother and I both did this on the way home from school. It really was fun, especially when we ran along doing it. Such fun memories. :) Sandra xxx

Nice and consistent meter and simple but also consistent rhymes. All in all a delightful response to the contest challenge. Good luck with it.

Thanks, Allister, I did enjoy having some fun with this one. Simple is my middle name, lol! I can't remember, is it one or two Ls in Alister/ Allister? Thank you for reading this one, my friend, I'm glad you liked it. :) Sandra xxx

Between the multiple spelling choices available for both my names, there are over 14 combinations. As for the one that is mine, it is Allister Fraser.

Thank you, I like to get these things right! :) My name is Sandra, pronounced Sahnd ra, not Sand ra, try it out, it sounds so much better, but often I'm called Sandy. xxx

This is very good Sandra. My thoughts would go to rhythm of music or poetry. The tat-tat-tat of the stick on the fence would surely set the pace. A marching band. LOL Nice little fun poem until the cats ruined the rhythm. LOL Hugs. NAncy

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

"The Orchestra?"

One of my favorite topics... I played the cello all during Jr. and Sr. High School. We were called "The Little Symphony Orchestra," and I remember our conductor's name was Ernst Katz. We even performed at the Hollywood Bowl with Jascha Heifetz was the featured violinist.

The girl in your picture with the stick in lieu of a baton is priceless -- she must have so loved the orchestra as do I.

We even played at a poolside party at the late Mary Pickford's home if you can remember that far back!

I love you imagery and rhymes throughout the poem, I.E "
"Inside her head, the maestro's played"

"Then grand pianos hit the beat
that matched her stick, it was so neat."

"The rat tat tat she played so well,"

"The birds joined in the music feast;
it was first-class to say the least. "

and Ha!
"But when the cats thought they'd join in
it ended up a dreadful din!"

I loved it Sandra... Every single word of it ... and I remember the mean old tricks the mischievous guys in the orchestra would play on our poor teacher/conductor during our schooldays.

I even remember the name of the guy I had a violent crush on. His name was Sheldon Apel ... and I wonder if he is still alive. He played a mean trombone...

Thank you for bringing back such precious and priceless memories... I am smiling from ear to ear wondering what they all look like now if they have survived as I have, lol!

P.S. Do you mind if I use your (~~oOo~~) symbol at the end of my poems? I love the way it looks and kind of a signature piece and so you probably won't want to share it for that reason... If not, I can make one similar to it.

Love and Blessings, and a Big Hug besides for bringing back such happy memories.
Nan:))

Thank you, my friend, I loved all your memories that my poem brought back for you. I often remember people and wonder if they are still living. Terrible that we have reached the age that we think that way, isn't it? At least you remember their names, I am terrible that way. Saying that, I remember more names from the far distant past than I do the near past. I wonder why.

Of course you can use my ~~oOo~~ It will stop people knowing who I am in blind contests, I always forget to take it off! Not that I enter many of them, I prefer people to know I wrote it, not that I'm vain...lol!

Thanks for reading this one, dear Nan, I'm glad you liked it. Love and hugs to you my sweet friend. :) Sandra xxx

reply by Nan Beeson on 14-Mar-2016
I understand and agree with everything you said ... and especially about the blind contests. I can tell who wrote them without their names... they all seem to have their distinct and individual styles...

Re the long term and short term memory, I have heard that before, but who knows why?

    Hugs,
    Nan:))
