= It is something how alcohol and drugs, when used in proper amounts can be medicinal. Of course, as all things what is good, others have to abuse it.
= I honestly don't think there will ever be a day, at least in what's left of my lifetime that there won't be issues with drugs and alcohol.
= This is an excellent write--good food for thought.

I am with you, even though the war against them will go on, as long
as there are people there will be drug and alcohol problems.

A very well written article on drugs and misuse of drugs. I was prescribed certain pain medication. It become very expensive and my medical aid did not pay for it. A few weeks after I stopped taking it. I could not sleep at night although I had no pain and gradually it got better, after six weeks I sleep normakky

Interesting piece that definitely added to my knowledge bank. The term 'drugs' itself is somewhat conspicuous and open to interpretation. Essentially any substance that has the power to alter our state of being is a drug... Food thus falling into this category. Interesting that many ancient societies and tribes viewed the use of mind enhancing substances as religious exaltation. I guess it's all relative.

Nice essay on drug use that ties together historical moments. What about opium and laudanum use in early America? I always question why we have receptors built-in for some drugs like opium.

Hi Nika2016,
There are so many, too many to list, when you mentioned Laudanum, I could not help
but think of Doc Holiday. He was the western character that ran with Wyatt Earp and brothers.
Laudanum was the only thing that gave him relief from the tuberculosis that finally took
his life.
