You are so right. I agree with everything you said, especially "expert evaluator."
I've met so many nice people here, but there's always at least one that spoils everything. I know a couple of people who have left the site because of it.
Keep on writing. You are very good.

Interesting and powerful post. Actually, writers are on the 'list' of those most prone to depression. And yes, suicide is horribly common. I personally know of several people who have committed or been affected by suicide. And you bring up a very good point about social media. It's easy to be an asshole when you're sitting incognito behind a screen.
I'll be honest - with one or two exceptions, I'll often skip FS stories that I find depressing. Not because I don't sympathize! But I have my reasons. As you say, no one knows what goes on in the mind of another.

Your words are so very true dear writer. We all, especially writes and poets have a tender heart. I don't care how macho you think you are and unkind review will eat at you. Poems and stories are after all our babies and how dare anyone call them any thing but beautiful. Suggestions and helpful hints are O.K. But damn it hold your uncivil tongue.

This is a very thought provoking story - as I am sure you intended it to be. You are right, we don't know what our fellow writers are dealing with and some kindness is a small price to pay to insure that we do not make their lives any harder

Wow, you go girl!!! I couldn't agree more, and I've read several despondent works on here and my hearts go out to them. I'm with you, we have no place destroying dreams. If I don't like a piece, I don't review it. Just that simple. Not everyone has the same tastes, so people should do what there mamas teach them, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
