Man is drawn to his environment and seeks the spiritual world of his being. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read.

It seems as if you sat down and let you pen and imagination take flight. Sometimes the best writing comes when you let go and don't try. This is exceptional art.

Mikey--this is absolutely splendid! I love the way you described your relationship to color--so vivid that I can see and feel it here in Missouri! Favorite lines:
The sky breaks into pieces as we crash through it. The stars scatter without understanding. Thanks so much for sharing this! Caroline

Hi, Mikey

= Equating life to/with colors is an excellent parallel.
= No matter the emotion or color--life is never picture perfect.
= And it is amazing how color can affect our emotions/moods.
= Excellent write, my friend.

= I apologize for the lateness of my reviewing and/or answering reviews.
= I'm editing to publish again, so bear with me.

* Cheers & Blessings *

I haven't the foggiest idea what the heck you're talking about, but it sure sounds pretty. My colors are pale, soft and gentle. Palest blur, and light sage green. Splashes of pale purple , light pink and faint yellow, here and there are good too.

I choose a fide on the back of an eagle. We will soar over mountain tops and ride the currents. Then he will gently set be in a field of wild flowers.

It's more of a piece to get a feeling or emotional response. Kind of like an abstract thing. Like how your last line makes me feel. Soaring and peaceful. :)) mikey

WOW! WOW! WOW!

I've enjoyed the two previous posts I've read and wanted to give you a six for the zoo sonnet. So much of your work is six worthy ... well ... this one takes the cake (chocolate of course). :)))

The title was what first fascinated and then drew me in... then that amazing image!
You had me hooked before I even read your Mikey-style haibun. This is the true power of your work, I think when you write one like this I should be able to give you a double six... or maybe six sixes. This is such a wonder, so much texture in your write.... first person is fab ... the accompanying poems are also splendid if not actually haiku, senryu or tanka or kyoka. In fact it doesn't matter if not true to haibun form in the Japanese sense ... I think Basho and the other Masters should share their glory with Mikey.

haibun-mikey ... a new form resplendent in it's own unique style.

Love these:-

"it's dripping ripe
and I become its color
art appreciation" --- this one has me drooling for more!! Extremely sensual, though I may be wrong. I love the cadence of the 'r' consonance and the assonance of the high and low "I/i"... and those "pp's ... really masterful word choice.

"a train doesn't think
it follows the tracks
they've no choice either" -- great personification, so expressive and so different.

"I'd noticed the lack of color for some time. I'm a man who sees in color, angry red and passionate red. Yellow so light it lifts everything skyward, and purple you can taste until it stains the sides of your mouth. Green, both envious and regal, with splendor one must possess." So much of this work has me salivating ... I think you will understand when I say this piece of writing is pure, tempered chocolate ... I have no other words to really get my feelings across. :)))

"I marvel and feel no danger at the hooves flailing against the stars in the sky. I mount up in one movement, and we are off like the wind."

"The sky breaks into pieces as we crash through it. The stars scatter without understanding. This is what my heart desires. They say I'm not alone. But they've never ridden on the Blue Paint Stallion."

"blue so dark
as to appear black ..."

Now I'm truly in a chocolate coma ... I think this must be the best I've read all year!!! I can not only feel these words and phrases, I can taste them.

The best of ALL: -

"But it's the blue of the night the moment after the sun finally disappears, just before the darkness takes a firm grip, calling to me--that darkest blue so few see ... that's the blue I wish to share--I wish for another to see." - the moment of true passion as the light of sunset fades, foreplay leads to moonlight glory... it can be alone, maybe in resplendent dreams?

This has blown me away ... my fave colour has always been blue in every hue. I need to recover now ... oh NO!!! Just one more read!! ... one more ... Mega Hugs Lovi xoxoxo

I can't believe you are so completely in tune and on the money with this. Wow. I'm stunned. Yes to everything you've said. I didn't expect anyone to get a word of this actually. I'm so humbled by your response I don't know what to say. Of anything I write, this is my true natural style and one I've had since day one. It's closest to a haibun I guess if I had to chose a form, but I never knew what a haibun was until I got here. AND this isn't really a haibun per se.
Anyway. I'm so encouraged and excited to write after reading this. You are awesome. Thank you a trillion times. mikey

I get the feeling this is a work about wanting, striving, searching for something more what presents itself. Trying to peel off the superficial and get into the depth of a matter. Only then can the truth and true colors break forth and shine through.
(I hope this makes sense. It is what came to me as I read)

I also feel the ending implies the search goes on.

It makes perfect sense and I'm so delighted you've come up with the essence of this. I honestly expect something like this to be completely ignored. So it just thrills me that you understand it. I can't ask for more, well six stars is pretty awesome too. Thanks so much. mikey

The haibun in one of my favorite styles and you have done a superb job with this one. Marvelous and strong imagery and while green is my favorite color, blue is a close second. Keep up the great work and I expect more haibun from you...just too good!

Wow. Thanks so much. It's not exactly a haibun, it's just how I've written for most of my life. A haibun is the closest thing to it. In any case, I'm just delighted you enjoyed this. It's totally me so that's a great endorsement. mikey

I defy death. I don't believe in it for myself. There, I've said something ironic for you to post when I croak. HAHAHAHA!!!
    Thanks a million, mikey

I've often said, and somewhat mean, that I hope I never learn in advance of my impending death. Because there will a bunch of dirty, conniving fu . . . . 's coming with me. Shame on me!
