Let me commence by stating I love BAD. And irreverence. And this is seriously bad.

I'm trying to write this as tears roll down my face. You have made my Sunday morning.

It's so good to find light hearted humour in poetry

Yeah, well that was tough luck!!
Bill, this made me laugh, and I am still chuckling. Really good and appealed to my sense of humour. Well done. Ulla:)))

Flickenhausen may have flickered out
that's what happens to candles in the ocean
they tend to spit and sputter
like a frying pan with butter
always check the undercarriage
if it's not fit and firm
one lesson you will learn
dead is dead, no matter what the marriage
Interesting poem, my friend!

Bill;
-a sort of a melancholy and sad piece of poetry written rhythmically and with great rhyming though but I must admit the rhyming seemed a little bit strained in some words. However, all through the writing of the rhyming words were contingent and supportive to the meaning and concept of each of the lines therefore making the rhythm to flow smoothly.
-the rhythmic meter being iambic tetrameter and the cadence, timing and tempo were helpful in making the reading clear, fluid and easy. The last line in every verse was written in iambic cinquameter(five syllables per line).
-as I said previously that this writing was a little bit melancholy but it was also quite humorous. And that being that is schooner was made of plywood( Chuckle!).
-thanks for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always Bill.
Alex

There are a lot of things I "could" say about this funny little limerick-like poem, Bill, but most of them would be considered as bigoted and intolerant. So I'll just keep my mouth shut...for the most part.

I will say, however, that God's intended plan for the procreation of humanity (as well as all other species) was always intended to be Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve. Man, and woman.

I asked my brother-in-law, who is married, legally, to another man the following questions:

Me--Hey, Eddie. Do you like steak?
Eddie--Huh?
Me--I asked if you liked steak. You know, a big, juicy steak?
Eddie--Well sure, who doesn't?
Me--Okay, then how about eggs...do you like eggs?
Eddie--Yeah, they're okay. Not as good as steak, though.
Me--No, of course not. But they're damn good together for breakfast, right?
Eddie--Well...yeah, I suppose so.
Me--Okay, then if God intended same sexes to be together, and it's to be considered by society to be completely normal, and all of the chickens and cows started fornicating with the same sex, how long do you think it would be before the steak and eggs ran out?
Eddie--I'm gonna starve, aren't I?
Me--You damn well bet yer butt, bub...

I guess that part of the poem stands out for some, Dean. I wrote it in with what I now see as a subconscious bias, as I placed him on a bad boat and killed him. I guess society has muted any overt reactions that I have to these unions.

WHat a witty poem you wrote, Bill. Dang, but it's good to find your work soon enough before it goes to 2 cents. The ending, like life, is so impertinently anti-climactic-- it could have been written by Sartre.

LOL but in a good way. I enjoyed your poem. I like the mono-rhyme of the lines. Then you have that last line of each verse that all rhyme--interesting. Your poem gave me a laugh [and we all need a good laugh everyday]. Good job on the smooth flow of lines. Thanks for sharing a fun read.

Ha ha - fun bit of poetry! You obviously had a good time with this one. Love the light & jaunty feel, and the unforced language choices. Good one! I feel as if I'd be silently reciting this one, if I read it a few more times.
