Hi Jimmy
Sorry, just disregard my last response to a reply for your review. Seems my mind is scrambled and I thought I was messaging someone else. Obvious why I was lead to your delightful and sharing poem ... GOSH ... I need to read this!! :)) I've been absent for a while from FS and while my son has been trying to get me to meditate, I've unfortunately been ignoring him. Poor fool am I ... :)))
A good start to free verse writing ... the effect of your words is profound ... you have used simplicity and clarity to get your message across so well.
Your words are written as a guided lead into relaxation ... so appropriately titled. It is amazing how easy it is to relieve stress and hard it is to take advantage when we get so hyped in our day. Your poem should be printed out and hung by my computer as a reminder of how often I forget ... to stop and find peace in my anguished day. I'm usually the one telling this to others ... NOW!!! I'm the one needing to hear it. A huge thank you my friend. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxoxo
PS You may be interested in Domino2's latest post ... a 5-7-5 ... of profound proportions as far as I'm concerned. I know you like the shorter forms. :)))

It seems I touched a nerve with this try at free verse. I guess that what this poem writing is all about. It thrills me to evoke heart-felt response. Life is too short to focus on the negative. There is to many good things going on about you if you take the time to look. We let the same old churning crap run around in our heads that just take up to much space. When we do that we leave no room for the so many joys that surround us. I like many others have had my ass kicked , been disappointed, mentally harangued and been dumped on. If I keep that crap in my thoughts I have no room to enjoy the little gray birds flitting about my bird feeder that I am now looking at or thinking about the first words that my grand daughter is trying to speak. You called your day anguished; there is no time for anguish. Only time for joy.. Just take the time to realize how many wonderful things surround you as you read this or write you next Haiku. Think of the wonder of your huge talent, or the fact that you quipping with some old guy in New Jersey 10,000 miles away. or maybe that wonderful cup of tea that you brought to your computer room, ( and maybe a cookie). As you entered the room where you write you felt a calming joy in anticipation to what you were going to do. That is where to get your head. put aside all that anguishes you and take joy in the moment. I wish peace of mind for you.
Thanks for such a heart felt review.. I hope my response did not offend.
Jimmy
PS
I wrote a verse several years ago called Breathe just Breathe. You might want to read it.
Thanks for suggesting Ray?s Haiku. He is a genius.

So often tension seems to grip one neck and back. Sometimes taking a deep breathe deep and slowly does help. Stretching works for me as well. Well written!

Just lovely, I meditate every day but this took me back to when I used to lead deep relaxation and guided imagery sessions as this was similar to the tart of those sessions. It made me smile. Simple, effective and beautiful, thank you for sharing Regards Helen

You have picked up what I understand to be one of the essences of Buddhism and perhaps of many oriental religions - the meditative quality.
I like the way your free verse experiment goes with its statement of the problem, question, reasoned response and advice on action sections. I have never been able to meditate at that level but I have known several people who could and they all seemed to get a great deal from it.
I find it difficult, even impossible to empty my mind. Perhaps because there is nothing in it to empty. Lol.

I have been meditating for several years, 20 minutes twice a day. It really calms you and makes the barbs of life less significant. I am presently studying the Buddhist method which helps you look at life in a better light. not from a religious point of view but a common sense point of view. When i started this several years ago. The book I read gave all the standard relaxation techniques. The one thing that made it work for me was the instruction to address an incoming thought with "I'll think about that later" It is amazing how quickly the thought would pass. As to what fill your head, i am truly amazed. the verity of subject mater that you command and know intimately enough to write verse is awesome ; actually unbelievable. You are a impressive guy.
Thanks for the always great review.

Your poem reminds the reader how easy it is to put aside stress and take a few minutes to relax. Deep breathing isolates our thoughts as we shift gears from thoughts of the hectic world to calming thoughts within ourselves. An enjoyable poem and exercise, Jax.
Smiles,
Indy :-)

You are on your way, dear friend. A poet you will be.
This free verse speaks to something we should consider
on a regular basis. I use Tai chi each day, and when I don't
my day is out of focus. I can't suggest anything to make this
any better. -Bill

AHHH, I feel better now. Perhaps I should keep this and read it everyday. It certainly painted a vivid picture that was quite therapeutic.
