I'm so very guilty of censoring my own writing...that sometimes I just don't post. It's just too dangerous to write what you really want to. Hell, if I wrote what I wanted, I'd have stories galore about wrecked helicopters, dead pilots, etc...etc...but then the ones who DO watch these sites would be knocking on my door. So, I just stick to the sad sack deals. Good for you tho, Dawn for speaking about what is something we are losing in America and probably Canada too. Freedom. Of speech. Of speaking. Of everything. x

1.) world a better place, a more honest place, (but) also to stand up to those who would force us into the mold they create.

Dawn,

This is an important piece on an issue many on this site should read and heed. I think you handled the subject matter - regardless of it's inception -- very well, and I echo a hearty 'Amen!'

Per your request, I'm back to read this post. I think you are right that most of us are not as open and honest in our writing as we could be, because we are afraid of being judged or even admitting to ourselves our own inadequacies. I admired the way you wove in the theme of political correctness and tied this work back to the use of a tiny preposition in your previous poem, which underscores the importance of precision in the use of language. Here's to continuing to "bleed honesty" in what you write and always honoring the words! Big cheers- Joan

That was a great film wasn't it!
I guess the only thing I can say, I would rather God utter one wise word, than me utter a thousand words thinking that I was justified in doing so, and the possibility of wrecking a possibility for hope, I have witnessed some vitriolic posts in recent times and I believed they were judgemental and angry, opening deeper chasms than before, I have nothing against the truth, as long as it's true of my confession, but God has never given me leave to defend my version of "honour" if that's vague Dawn, I'm sorry, but such is real wisdom, well done, though, well written, blessings, Roy.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying, Roy. (?) If the spirit moves us to write, shouldn't we? If we are believers, then it follows that we use the gifts we are given, otherwise it's like we are ungrateful. We believe God operates through the surgeon, the teacher and so on, so what's different about a writer? The Bible was written by men who were used by God--His instruments--or should we not allow a man to perform surgery, a man (or woman) to instruct and so on?

If I am misunderstanding, forgive me, but it sounds as if you are saying that we shouldn't write at all, and I can't believe that is what you really mean because you write poetry! Vitriolic posts are not "truthful writing" they are spiteful, hateful attacks. There's a world of difference between expressing an opinion (whether it is right or wrong) and writing something with the intention of doing harm, insulting someone.

I don't think anyone here could ever accuse me of writing anything hateful, yet I always try to write truthfully.

God created man in His image, and He gave us a brain to use, talents to use in His service. That's my opinion, anyway.

Thanks so much for your honest feedback, my friend, and yes, it was a fabulous film! *grin*

It probably sounded terribly vague, but I guess what I'm saying is, I agonise over what I write, like the great preacher Charles Purgeon, trembled before he mounted the rostrum, because the weight of the responsibility that God had placed on his shoulders, that's what I meant. I don't want it to be a personal agenda, but God's agenda, I never meant that your writing is meant, that way, in fact your writing is normally full of grace, it's just my heart feels saddened when I read some writing, nothing wrong with you, just examine it before you post, and yes, sometimes grace is served with, vinegar, I am a fan not a knocker, blessings,in Christ's love, Roy

No, I agree, sometimes tough love is called for, for sure. And yes, it is a huge responsibility, I guess that's why I believe we should write as honestly as we can. I think, sometimes we can sacrifice honesty to fear - not the good kind of fear that comes from conscience, but the selfish kind, the kind that wants to make us accepted. That's all I was really saying...I guess I DID misunderstand what you were saying...:) Blessings to you too, my friend.

Oh, you're so kind! But yes, I could and have. My foot fits easily into my mouth. LOL. But I do try and I think what's in our hearts is what comes out most often.
