That's a good sketch. Where did you find it? My take on Trump is he says what he thinks people want to hear at the time and will be on both sides of an issue one week to the next. He has no policy... just bluster and guts. There's no telling what he might do. I don't trust him at all. Scary thought that he'd become president.

Donald Trump is a very poignant thought-provoking piece that evaluates the man from a non-supportive point of view. This is an opinion piece that realistically portrays one sector of the populations disdain for this novice politician. Without question Donald Trump is a polarizing figure. I must take umbrage with the assertion that the Trump supporters are from the far right. The Donald defied political pundits and is drawing supporters from both the left and the right and substantial representation from the middle as well. But I'm with you, his philosophy does not seem to come from a committed core of long-held beliefs, but rather a recognition of political expediency; Realizing our nation is fed up with the liberal policies currently driving our nation downward. Thanks for sharing. May God bless you!

Dr. Nad, thanks so much for your very kind review and words. I also appreciate your interesting thoughts on the subject. I gave considerable thought to the umbrage you took with my assertion that Trump supporters are from the far right. I understand your point, to a point, but I find it hard to believe that he is getting more than a few isolated supporters from the left. I am trying to be as fair as possible, though, so as a compromise, I changed "those on the far right" to "many on the right". Thanks again. Bill

Excellent essay. Perhaps Trump was referring to Mexicans, in general committing crimes as Mexicans represented a greater percent of inmates per population when I was in grad school. Obviously, we would only know about those charged and immigrants would not want to be visible due to deportation. Trump is scary and only Sarah Palin could be worse. Thank you for this astute analysis.

Very well done. A well researched piece supports your observation of the current frenzy about this man who aspires to be our next president. A frightening thought. Honestly, given the pool of candidates on both sides of the race for the White House keeps me up at night.

This Non-Fiction Writing Contest entry is thoughtful and provocative. It is well reasoned.
Trump seems to be a kind of antidote to the frustrations brought on by our present administration. Coming from a counseling perspective, he is arrested emotionally at the age of 12, talks at the level of a 5th grader, and has chameleon qualities depending upon the circumstances.
Perhaps, a majority of the population is at a 5th grade level?
Yes, he has broken a communication barrier between the people and political machine.
A thought on word choice here-
was just beginning to insinuate its tentacles, how about infiltrate rather than insinuate? I believe you mean to say broach instead of the pin brooch.
All the best in the contest. :0 GracieAnn

Gracie, thanks so much for your very kind words and review. Thanks also for catching that terrible mistake with broach. I don't know what I was thinking - I couldn't fix it quick enough. Infiltrate rather than insinuate is an interesting suggestion. I rolled it around in my mind for a while, kind of went back and forth, but you know how you sometimes get a word stuck in your mind and you can't let it go? That's how it is with insinuate in this case - just seemed to perfectly catch the emotion of the point I am trying to make. Thanks again for catching broach! Bill

I always appreciate when someone helps me with my homonym challenge. ;0.....and apostrophes. I miss a member upon whom I could depend to find my goofs. Maybe you know her past works? Adwepearl or Brooke? She was number one poet for years running and contracted MS. How I miss her helpful guidance! She is no longer on the listing. Any way, I think I want to fan you! :0 GracieAnn

Thank you for writing this and presenting it. As an Australian , the view of D.Trump's campaign is slanted towards what the Press deem suitable for the average Ocker wage slave needs to know. He is a joke to most people I speak to, but a scary prospect as a Presidential possibility.
The incident about the lady in the head scarf was brushed over in AusPress. I caught only a glimpse of it, but I thought to myself, there was more to it than they gave out.
Anyway, well done and thanks again cheers Cass

Excellent post. I couldn't agree with you more. I don't trust the man.
I see too many parallels with Hitler. I saw them from the beginning. Now he's spouting a third party run. That WAS how Adolph got into power.
Trump has nothing on the surface to gain by running for president. He has been selfish and self center his whole life--I don't see a change of any sort that says he's not the same tyrant he always has been. He's the leader of social injustice. And ironically he has those who he plans to trample putting him over the top. Good riddance America, hello Fourth Reich.
Good luck in the contest
Jimmy

I found your article very informative and well written. I really do not get into politics. The old saying of two subjects you do not openly discuss are politics and religion , applies to me. we can argue our points until we are blue in the face and all we do is get frustrated. I do however believe and laying the facts out plainly as you see them and let the person make up their own mind and that basically is what you did! And I feel you did a very good job of it. Thank You.

I try my darnedest to separate my political feelings from my poetry and reviewing. Some of the points I agree with you and some I do not but that is neither here nor there. You have a very good, well researched article.
